Anyone here drive for Uber? Anyone here drive for Uber?

Babs,

In one instance you are angry about people being judgmental of uber drivers and in the next you put down fast food workers. This is pretty hypocritical tbh. People are doing what they can to get by.

Almost zero uber/lyft drivers net $100k driving. Most don’t know what “net” actually means.

No, youre an idiot. You are a self proclaimed expert and its laughable. You have no clue what you are talking about, as usual. There are Uber/Lyft drivers making over 100k a year.

I'm pretty sure people like working for uber or similar because it offers them flexibility and they can be there own boss. It definitely comes with a lot of drawbacks but the few that think that's great for them; it works.

people net 50 bucks an hour (if they work 40 hour weeks) or 25 an hour if they work 80? Seems like it wouldn't be that easy to do. there are costs (gas, car, maintenance, insurance) involved as well as down time. i bet there are some but they must work crazy hours and/or work in a big city where cost of living is likely insanely high.

Babs, what's your calculation to determine a 100k profit? Mine shows 822 miles driven on average every day of the year. It doesn't seem close to possible.

822 miles per day, I'd kill myself.

Beast,

Does Rad Thibodeaux in KOTH remind you of El Diablo?

There are many uber drivers who gross over 100k/year.

Most of those make a very low hourly wage net of all expenses.

The math is very simple.

$/hr avg from uber.
Minus gas.
Minus auto insurance.
Minus maintenance.
Minus car payments/depreciation.

That’s a net income from uber. Fill in the numbers for the driver netting 100k+.

Then on top of that to make it comparable to those other jobs:
Minus self employment taxes
Minus health insurance and other benefits

Uber drivers make far less than they think they do. That’s part of Uber’s slimy success. They take advantage of people who don’t understand math, finance, and economics.

How about a wager on which of us has access to better information about earnings of Uber drivers?

You don’t appear to understand what “net” means.

The examples on the front page of that site are grossing 100k+ before expenses. They net far less than that after costs incurred driving.

Then, compared to the grocery store workers referenced earlier, they have the added expense of self employment tax.

And on top of that, they don’t get any benefits.

But hey, look, if it makes you feel better... Sure, you’re making a ton driving for uber! You go, dude!

You are the one who said I was an uniformed idiot on this topic. My claims are correct and backed up by internal uber data.

But again, no need to argue. Keep crushing it driving for uber! You’re probably way more profitable than all the other uber drivers out there!

Hahaha this is not about me. I dont even drive full time nor do I take it serious. I do know tho that you can make decent money doing it, especially driving in the city. Most dont seem to be aware that you can do fairly well.

Part of the reason El DIablo goes around acting like hes an expert on everything when in reality he hasnt the slightest damned clue is because clowns like you have your mouth attached to his scrotum sac Brock.

Internal data? Do you know the p90, p95, and p99 in annual driver gross earnings?

El D;

What universe do you live in where grocery and restaurant workers get benefits?

What universe do you live in that someone who owns a car hasn't seen taxes removed from their paycheck?

What universe do you live in where grocery workers aren't transported by the bus system you pay taxes to keep afloat (and yet are somehow earning more than an Uber / Lyft driver)?

I'm asking because I would like to move there.

1) I didn’t mention restaurants, though many SF restaurants are required to offer health benefits. I did mention Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Starbucks

http://m.wholefoodsmarket.com/career...t-our-benefits

https://www.traderjoes.com/careers

https://www.starbucks.com/careers/working-at-starbucks

2) Yes, most people are aware that taxes get taken out of your paycheck. I don’t believe I said anything about that. But if you drive for uber, you need to pay additional self-employment taxes that in a regular job your employer pays (and aren’t taken out of your paycheck).

3) not sure what you’re saying with your third point. My point is simply that many grocery workers make a higher hourly net wage than uber drivers.

Goof,

I have access to investor data, which isn’t reported to that level of granularity.

But if you really needed it for a specific geography, I could probably get it for you.
