Twice a day they bring a cart around and administer medications. 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., I think it was.
They have a nurse in the jail, but just bankers hours. Everyone sees the nurse at least once when you are brought in. As with the classification, because of the timing of my sentence I didn't see the nurse until I'd been there four days.
The nurse was a total civilian, a woman around 30 years old.... It was incredibly relieving to talk with her for just a few minutes. After four days of just guards and talking to myself, a regular person was a surprisingly-refreshing relief/change.
Anyways, yes, meds twice a day. I brought in some paperwork for my own meds, two common antidepressants, because I wanted to try and avoid missing any days, particularly given the situation.
On contact lenses: I'm not sure. Seems like they'd just make you wear glasses. I'm blind without some kind of corrective lens, and just wore my glasses while I was there.
When you take medication, you approach the cart with a cup with a clear liquid. You take the pills, open your mouth, show guards you actually took it.
