Subbed! This is a great thread. I transitioned into coffee a few years back but before that I spent about 6-7 years bartending in Australia, Scotland and bussing in Canada (gotta know someone or work your way up if you wanna tend bar anywhere good there, and I really like that system)

I'll tip my hat to Harrah's specifically; they seem to come around constantly, at all hours. One of the servers, Linda, has been around for several years, and while she isn't always the friendliest, she'll keep 'em coming. Late late night poker at Harrah's is awesome because of it. One of the reasons Harrah's is my favorite "gem" poker room.

Tons of fights. The bars I worked on the east coast were privately owned so bar staff was security. We got on fights as quickly as possible. Like jumping over the bar and throwing punches. We had a reputation of being the last place you wanted to start **** in and owners wanted to keep it that way.

Best thing about being a gaming bartender (now that I'm old and afraid to get knocked out) is having security and metro support. I just pick up a radio.

Memorable fights: (disclaimer) I love gay people. Like, I really love gay people. These two gay guys got into it one night. There was two groups of flaming queens who collided and two of them started to scrap. And I mean PROUD to be flaming queens. I see it starting and I'm heading down the bar for the radio. I get there and pick it up. My partner puts his hand over it. I look up and he's smiling. Three minutes of the funniest **** I've ever seen. They're dancing around throwing open hand slaps. And I mean getting crazy. Knocking over bar stools breaking glasses. Staying ten feet away from each other. "You nasty bitch with your fake ass weave!" Security rolls in and they're looking at us like bro? We're just laughing. Good luck.

Sickest thing: I'm working the sports bar. I'm making orders for my girls in the well and I see this guy walking across the back of the book. All of the sudden he slams his forehead down onto one of the race book desks. Like full on slamming his face onto the table. He does it like four times fast. He starts ripping the TV's out of the seats and throwing them into the air. Just screaming like a banshee. Knocking over chairs. My girl is like, " 2 bud lights, 2 coronas, 4 bottles of water..." HOLD THE **** ON! I'm on the radio with security down that end of the bar. This ****ing guest is in my face, "Hey, can I get two bud lights?" ****ing oblivious. This guy is rolling around the back of the book knocking over tables. His pants come off in the melee. I'm looking at bare man ass and he's screaming like a girl getting murdered. I will never forget those butt cheeks. Crazy drug insanity man butt cheeks flopping around on the floor. Burnt into my mind. Forever. This is why I drink. Security shows up but they won't touch him. Ten minutes of some naked dude screaming that the devil is burning him. Meth will **** you up.

FWIW OP I was mostly interested in best approach of cold picking up a bartender at the establishment while she's working.

At the bar there's usually the clear bartender/customer divide (I'm just 1000th dude shes seen this week ordering a beer) so any pro tips / real life stories would be interesting.
