People are ****ing stupid. People are ****ing lonely. People are lost and bored. Men are driven by ego and women by vanity. Everybody loves to talk and nobody wants to listen. Everyone lives in their own illusion and they want that illusion to be perpetuated.

The Brits don't tip and I hate people from Indiana. New Yorkers are tough but if you give **** back to them they'll love you. People from Wisconsin order brandy by the brand and want pickles in their Bloody Mary's. Mexicans put lime juice on everything. The rich Mexicans drink Heineken. Black people love whipped cream. Filipino men drink corona and their woman drink Merlot. All of them.

White people always try to sound black to black people.

Scottish people are rare in America and they are cool as ****.

If you can't tell were somebody is from then they're Canadian.

Everybody has to move the ****ing cocktail napkin.

Nobody has a charged phone.

All the Europeans bitch about American beer and they all drink Budweiser.

Chuck, I love your writing.

This one will take some time to do right. I'll have to come back to it.

Short answer:

My personal favorite, that no one seems to be impressed by, is I had Latoya Jackson and her bodyguard at the bar for like fours hours one night. Just those two and my partner. She was cool as **** and I chatted her up for hours. She claimed she had never had a Pina Colada and came to the bar to try one. I think she wanted to **** me.

Oh, ****! Ric Flair, his son, and a body guard were at a bar I worked back east. They were pounding Sushi rolls like crazy. Ordering like ten at a time. They just buried the Sushi chef, this old Japanese guy. He has enough and cuts them off. He's yelling in broken English, "No more sushi for you! **** you! You leave! Go home now!" The bar staff couldn't work for like twenty minutes we were laughing so hard. "Oh, ****! Chef just cut off Ric Flair!"

Flair is walking around the joint saying, "No more... SUSHI FOR YOU!" in a fake Japanese accent. Woo!

Wow I checked out how this thread started and it seemed like the worst AMA ever.

Then these last two posts just delivered so hard!

You definitely gotta tell some more stories.

Most interesting to me was a conversation with Huck Seed. I'm off work and waiting for a buddy at the bar to go play poker. I look over and Huck is just sitting there chilling. I bought him his drink. Bailey's and coffee. ****ing cool dude. Laid back, humble, way cooler and nicer than I am.

We talked for a half hour or so. He smirked when I tried to talk strat. He told me he was a week away from signing a (new?) deal with Full Tilt when Black Friday hit. I won't share the financials but when I heard it I said, "damn..." He said, "I know." I just sat there smoking. His girls sandwich was ready and he left.

Probably more interesting is a LA bartender turned entrepreneur that I met in Vegas. That's a little long winded though so, I'll come back to it.

Shot and a beer is the pro drink. I'm guessing that's 5-10% of the male population. It's about the same percentage for guys who drink the sissy stuff. I'm guessing 80% of dudes are in the "just a beer" or highball category.

Real drinkers, real men, get right to the good stuff. Cold beer. If that's not enough then get a shot of Jack Daniels. Drink your whiskey neat or on the rocks. Vodka/gin marty's are fine as long as you aren't in a blue collar bar. Don't drink margaritas, get a shot of decent tequila. Herradura.

We should really just chug warm whiskey out of a dirty glass.

If you want that hot young female bartender to love you, "Bud and a jager, ma'am."

Most famous person I have ever served drinks to is a tough one. I've met WAY more famous people at the bar than I have actually served. That list is long but it would be fun to try and remember. Some of them wouldn't impress people from Vegas because the celebs are locals. Hmmmmmm....

Most famous that I actually served is probably Latoya. Maybe Rodman or Pippen (Powerade). My fav was Richard Roundtree. That's right. Shaft, mother ****er.

My biggest tip (that wasn't split) was $500.

I've had maybe ten people tip me $100 for one drink. One guy tipped me $100 on a $3.50 Budweiser.

Very cool. I would have marked out for Shaft. So does the name "No Tippin' Pippen" hold any weight?

A really hot girl will fill up an empty bar before she finishes her first drink. Maybe an exaggeration, but easy 5-10 guys. Those guys will want to tip to impress her (it works).

This may seem hard to believe but I've never given a drink away and hate on people who try to hustle free drinks. Even the hotties.

lol

I really don't remember. I was bartending an after party for the NBA all-star game. He walks up to the bar and see's that we have ice tubs full of Gatorade. He starts tripping because Powerade was the NBA sponsor. "You gotta get this stuff out of here!" I'm like, really? "What do you think happens if somebody gets a photo of me drinking Powerade?"

I'm walking up to my boss like, "Uh, do we have any Powerade?" Why? "Uh, well, Mr. Pippen just told me..."

ICWUDT

By "be a man" I meant, keep it simple.

Tending bar with a partner EARLY one Saturday morning. This grizzled old **** walks up to the bar alone. VFW **** everywhere. "Hello, sir. What can I do for you?" Give me a ****ing scotch. My coworker's eyes get all wide, he's about to lose it. "Sir, we have a broad Scotch selection..." ANY DAMN THING!

****ing bad ass.

That was 18 years ago and still the best drink order ever.

We ordered like that for years, "Give me a beer." What beer would you like? "ANY DAMN THING!"

Have you ever had PUA types using your bar for a pick up spot? Guys using the same tactics on women day in day out type stuff?

Shot and a beer seems bizarre to me. What is the appeal of that over a double shot, whether it's neat or mixed?

I think the appeal is that the bartender can make it super duper quick and be on to the next patron
