Drive to his house and start loading your rocks into your truck. When he asks you what you're doing tell him "Just picking up rocks". If you have his phone number, maybe give him, or his son,a heads up you're on the way. Since it sounds like he won't listen to you, let his son know you had big plans for those rocks and you need to come get them back.

Why do you people not have guns?

Here in Texas no one is ever trying to trespass because they would get their ass shot off, there is no ****ing around with going on other people's property.

This situation will be resolved with you pulling a gun on the guy and firing a warning shot a couple of times. If he comes back a third time shoot him in the knee cap.
MLY, please stop telling people you're from Texas. Thanks.

How about you advise that you don't want to involve the police but you will be forced to if this doesn't stop? I had an incident where the back of my house abutted a glass company, they kept shattering glass to put in their dumpster and it was landing in my yard. I put up a fence at my own expense and it helped but didn't eliminate the problem completely. I discussed it with them multiple times and was dismissed, and I advised the next time it happened I would call the police. I ended up having to involve them, the police went over talked to them. They asked if I wanted to press charges for illegal dumping, I said no but if it happened again I would. End of problem, not only did they come over and clean up my yard, it never happened again.

I'd say you need to confront him, and make it clear in no uncertain terms what he's doing is wrong. Something like:

You are trespassing on my property. You are not welcome here. Your taking my landscaping rocks is theft. If they are not returned by <date>, I will be forced to press charges. Do you understand?

While recording this, of course. Then, follow up on it.

You mention that he's older, thinks he owns the neighborhood, and just repeats what he's already said over and over. Is there a chance that he's senile, and doesn't really understand that he's not just out on a tramp through public woods?

If so, the above conversation probably should happen with the son.

Also, what mark said. Go get those rocks back, echoing the sentiment he gave you when stealing them.

Another option is bind hands and feet, into a garbage bag, and down the ravine with him. Just add more trash to the pile.

If you do this, force him to write a suicide note first.

I'd start by communicating this with Son and let son do the heavy lifting, if grandson is Son's son offer grandson some paid labor this spring in the same communication imo.

I really thought this was a poker thread where an OMC was stealing Rocks, maybe from the local casino to start a private game?

de cap to LEO:

"He's old and uncoordinated. I can't help that.

He was throwing trash down the ravine, slipped and fell.

Right into a bunch of zip ties and and a garbage bag. What are the odds?"

Old Man, look at your rocks
they're a lot like mine were
Old Man, look at your rocks
they're a lot like mine were

Old Man, look at your rocks
twenty four and there's so much more
live alone in a paradise
that makes me think of you

rocks lost, such a cost
give me things that don't get lost
like a rock that won't get tossed
rolling home to you

What % of:

1) Old man genuinely wants the rocks and they just happen to be on your property
2) Old man enjoys trolling you and doesn't GAF about the rocks

would you ascribe to the situation?

That would be a public service, not an annoyance.

Very surprised that no one has suggested giving the old man COVID and let nature take its course. Problem solved.
