Although I can't edit the actual post, I have noted it.

Also somebody put down Mario Soares who has indeed died at the age of 92. I need to find an obit on one of the approved websites to count it.

EDIT: http://abcnews.go.com/International/...untry-44620078

Now determining point total.

110 - 92 = 18 points

Mario Soares was a unique pick by Tokyo!! meaning he gets a 15 point bonus. That means he gets a total of 33 points.

Nice work on the first hit of the year!

After looking over Bob's post I can't believe how many unique picks I have, As far as I can tell I have 11 people not chosen by others.

Gene Hackman
Dabney Coleman
Don Imus
Roger Moore
Barbara Eden
Ozzy Osbourne
Yoko Ono
Doc Gooden (joker)
Corey Feldman
Buddy Guy
Chevy Chase

ok, i will replace baghdadi with nobby stiles (UK footballer).

since there was never really any consensus in the cash pool discussion, i will assume this stands for the cash pool as well, but if a consensus emerges this week that LC and i should keep baghdadi instead, that's fine with me too. i would just say people should speak now or hold their piss.

also, bob, you never replied as to how you were treating lists with no joker. i requested fernando ricksen for mine upthread. alternately, there was a suggestion that the first entry on lists lacking a joker would be designated automatically.

Soares died of undisclosed causes in a Lisbon hospital on 7 January 2017, aged 92.[5]*He had been admitted to the hospital on 13 December, and although his condition at first showed slight signs of improvement, he lapsed into a coma on 26 December from which he never recovered.[6]

You do have some good unique picks, 10 is a lot. One correction though, Ozzy Osborne is not unique, i have him as well, also seem to remember seeing him on a few other people's lists but oo lazy to check.

I have put all the lists I could find in a google doc:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...D44/edit#gid=0

The top name is the joker.

Howard Treesong has submitted 21 names. I suggest to remove the last one (Bill Russell).

ntanygd760 on the other hand has only submitted 19, one of them being "Courtbey". No joker was designated.

toedder has not designated a joker either.

The first names on their lists are GHW Bush and Betty White respectively.

Disclaimer:

I started at the beginning of the thread and copied the self-reported lists. I did not check if they match the master list posted by SuperUberBob. I shortened some of the names to better fit them into the spreadsheet.

Sounds fine with me.

There are a few misspelled entries:

Mary Tyler Morre (by myself), Justin Beiber, Summer Redstone, Dorris Day, Steven Hawking

I think the intention in each case is obvious and unambigious. The same is true for simply "Mugabe".

---

I added a second sheet to the google doc with an alphabetical list of all celebrities picked and who picked them. A pink background indicates a joker. The most popular pick is Donald Trump(13), followed be GHW Bush(11) and Hugh Hefner(10).

Surprised I'm the only taker on Otto Warmbier

Too bad there aren't any penalties in this DeathCapping.
01-11-2017 , 11:12 PM
How about a penalty related to hoping that someone on your list dies? For example, I doubt anyone is rooting for Mary Tyler Morre to die, but it looks like quite a few might be rooting for TRUMP.

Would provide for good arguments.

I think the person with the lowest score at the end of the year should win a prize. To award life.

Winner needs a title

The Grim Reaper

I would expect the N Koreans are very interested in keeping him alive. They take prisoners in order to basically ransom them, not kill them. Unless you have some other info about his health or status.

I thought we said that for anyone who didn't chose a joker that the first person on their list will count as the joker
01-13-2017 , 06:24 AM
I am still fine with that. That's why I mentioned which names are first on the lists.
01-13-2017 , 04:54 PM
