I just use the stock browser to view 2+2, and it automatically displays the Mobile skin, which makes things easier/faster to read for me. If I want to view polls, avatars, etc, I just check the "Request desktop site" option, which displays the full site like a computer would. It has worked fine this way for years.

However, this past week, 2+2 started displaying as a full desktop skin all the time. No other sites were affected, and they would display the Mobile view unless I checked the option to view the desktop site, like normal. 2+2 would not go back to Mobile though. I eventually changed my 2+2 options to Mobi skin only, but now when I check the option to view the desktop site, it still remains Mobile view, and I cannot view polls, avatars, etc.

Has this happened to anyone else, and is there a fix for it?
Yes this has happened to me and I cant find any fix. Looks like 2p2 just did away with the entire mobile site version or at least the browser detection to load the proper skin for mobile browsers.

And please, dont tell us to use the app.

Thanks for the feedback - it prompted me to look at slightly larger screens. As I said, I only want it for casual/emergency use, so as long as I can click the required buttons after some practice, then that is fine.

I have now found that my ISP recently added the Motorolo Moto G to their list, which has a 4.5" screen and higher resolution for £3 a month more - but then found that they were overpricing it, and that I can get it for slightly less than even the Samsung would have cost me via my ISP by using our supermarket instead - with no extra penalties if I leave my ISP in the contract period, and a lot more minutes per month - so I'm pretty much locked into that now.

Thanks for the replies.

I took a friend in for a minor operation and sat in the waiting room for two hours.

After getting bored with the year old magazines, I fired up PS on my phone and immediately thought there was no way I could play with the small buttons and the fact that I have 50+ year old eyes. After 15-20 minutes it was instinctive, and I had no problems. I started out slow and then got the hang of it and don't recall having a single mis-click. Again, I wouldn't want to do long sessions, but for occasional use it was okay.

Good luck.

Just as an FYI to those who are going to be buying a phone soon - it looks like both HTC and Samsung are trying to release their next flagship phones in March. Not sure if those are the US release dates or an international ones, but something to keep in mind if you were considering the One and S4.

Whenever my new GS4 gets a text with an image, instead of just showing me the image it has a download tab that just sits in limbo if you press it. Any ideas?

I'm also using the default messaging for texting, is that dumb?

I feel like my Droid Razr Maxx HD battery is compeltely shot...

This is a screenshot from today, in my pocket the entire day. Wifi and syncing both turned off.

Does verizon even cover this? I don't have the insurance policy or whatever. I can steal someone in my family's upgrade if I have to... guess I downgrade to like a Moto X maybe? Battery life is pretty important to me. Gaming and stuff I don't really care about.

Actually I think I bought the phone through Wirefly and Bank of America if that means anything.

I'm pretty sure Screen and Cell Standby should be #1 and #2 in battery usage, with Screen being way in the lead (it's over 50% on my phone right now). So the fact that Phone Idle and Android OS are indicates to me that something else might be wrong instead of your battery. Probably a background process that is preventing the phone from going to sleep properly.

Try doing a hard reboot of your phone (hold Power and Volume Down for ~10 seconds) and see if that helps. If not then there are some apps that will monitor what apps are draining your battery, you can try some of those (Wakelock Detector being one).

FWIW, Screen and Cell SB are pretty far down for me, at 12% and 7%, respectively, and my battery seems to be working pretty well.

Interesting. I keep the phone at max brightness almost the whole day, though, so maybe that's the difference.

For me it's 57% for screen, 14% for cell standby. Phone Idle and Android OS are 9 and 4%.

Oh wow. I'm at 40% brightness during the day, and 20% at night.

It was in my pocket the entire day as a test. I didn't turn the screen on. Actually screen was like 2% from when I was reading email on way into work but once I got there I disabled Wi-Fi GPS and syncing and left the phone in my pocket. Normally my screen is the highest.

100% during the day, 0% when it's dark out. I don't need it that bright most of the time, but I have an AMOLED screen which sucks in sunlight so I just keep it at max brightness to avoid having to change it when going outside. I've got an extended battery so there's no real downside to having it on 100% the whole time.

Try clearing cache/data, force stop, re-start, reboot.

I've tried 3 or 4 other messaging apps and I don't think there's anything wrong with the Samsung stock. I recently switched to Verizon messaging just for the ability to read/send from my computer.

Are there any good free podcast apps, or should I just pony up the three bucks for Doggcatcher?

I've been using the free version of beyondpod forever, don't remember what the paid version adds.

Same. I don't know what functionality in missing, but everything works the way I need it to so free version is fine.

any recommendations on a Qi charging pad for Nexus 5?
Specific need...NO flashing lights. I bought two recommended in the 2013 thread, but they have three flashing green lights and are quite distracting i a dark bedroom.

Are there chargers that charge faster than others...are there specs to look for?

Back up your data, factory reset it without installing back all the apps and see if it is still borked.

Also check that a recent update hasn't screwed them for a lot of people, it sometimes happens.

Why don't you just stick some tape over the LEDs?

I remember a few years ago i had a visual voicemail on my iphone. I loved it. Just seeing the #'s with a play button. No stupid calling the phone service and pressing stupid buttons.

Is it possible to do that on android without having the addon with my mobile provider? Even if its illegal.

Forward your vm to Google voice. Definitely not remotely illegal.

Btw my understanding is that Apple has some deal with the cell phone carriers where you get vvm for free, you usually gotta pay for it and or Google does it.

cool thank ill chk that out.

how hard is it for someone to program an app that pickups a phone call after 4-5 rings and just records a message by itself. Id pay 5$ for that

They got rid of mobile detection. Now we have to use the app, a desktop skin, or switch to Mobile skin permanently.

One of my biggest disappointments switching to Android is definitely the voicemail. I got Google voice and it's okay but imo Apple's setup is far superior
