It wasnt rooted at that point, the installer doesnt need the phone to be rooted first.

I dont really mess around with ROMs, too often you will have something not working right (cameras are notoriously buggy), but if there are issues on the N2 I havent noticed them yet. It also helps it is literally impossible to screw up provided you just follow the simple instructions of not unplugging the phone mid install and check a couple of boxes in the settings that they tell you to check.

I finally decided I'd do it, for no reason other than trying out a non-touchwhiz android, and I find out the Verizon note 2 bootloader can't be unlocked as of the December 4.3 update. Oh well.

Hey guys...new to this thread but obviously not new to the forums. Was wondering if anyone with a bit more knowledge could help me troubleshoot an issue I'm having rooting my sprint sph-l710 gs3. I have root access but the modified wifi tether app is not working and a mod app that was supposed to fix it did not. I work a lot on the road or away from home using a rooted android device to gain teh interwebz so this is important and I'd be willing to offer up some exchange services for something if anyone can help! Thank you

Hey all - I have an old Droid Incredible 2, thinking of upgrading to the new HTC One M8. I have Verizon (NJ). Any thoughts on this phone?

grunching so forgive me if it's already been posted.

Nexus 5 / Nexus 7

I've got a USB OTG cable but is there an app I should be using to read the files (watch the movies I have on .avi and .mp4) on it? I'm a little unsure how I go about accessing the files on the USB once I've plugged it in.

I use the Nexus Media Importer and it works perfect on both my Nexus 5 and 7.

Lost my damn S3 last weekend. I tried the Android Recovery thing Google has and it said I was only last online 28th (lost it on the 2nd). I'm SOL, yeah? T-mobile support didn't help me very much.

What would be the easiest route to get back in business? Buy an S3 off Craigslist or something?

Buy a Nexus 5, imo.

I am poor. And T-mobile sucks. It's weak because my Mom dropped her S3 in the toilet and the screen went black so she mailed it to me so I could try and fix it (replaced hers ASAP LDO). I followed guides online, took it apart, and cleaned it with 99% isopropyl alcohol. I let it dry for a while and just started it today and it was 100% working again. Then 2 minutes later dimmed again. BAHHH!!

S5 if you want sd card support , HTC m8 if not.
Maybe test them in some shop, but overall people seems to like M8 more

one huge edge for htc if you are in USA : they change your screen for free the first 6 months after you buy it

My iphone got fried (fell into a river taking kid fishing)....

I want to make the switch to Android. My local ATT store told me that if I buy an unlocked phone (MotoX or NExus 5) that it will not work on their LTE network. Is this sales BS or legitimate?

I think that's BS, but there might be some lolATT here.

I think it's according to the phone. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=unlocked+moto+x+work+on+att+lte

My advice for everyone here is wait until the OnePlus One. It's $299 and supports ATT LTE.

If it's too big, then the S5 or HTC One are the next step down as good phones that are still 5". Next step down is probably Moto X, which I've heard a lot of good things about. They will be releasing a new Moto soon though, so if you do have money then wait.

waiting for one plus one might be a really long wait

I thought I had read that the Moto X+1 wouldn't be out until end of summer, but apparently they're expected to announce it next week so we'll have more details then. But they could be announcing an even lower priced Moto "E" device instead of the X+1, so who knows.
