Anyone have any advice for the following?

1. My wife can't send texts or mms messages to my mom after getting a new phone. Never an issue before.

2. When I text with my brother, the conversation will be there for a few hours, maybe a day, and then the entire conversation is gone. This happens with my new phone as well as when I was with Verizon.

Wife and I are in straight talk, mom and brother are both on Verizon

I need to buy new phone... now i tend to lose phones pretty often so im not that into buying s5 just cuz its the newest phone atm, so i woukd aprreciate yoir advices ^^.
My requierments :
* not too big, so it fits my pocket ( i used to have s4 and it was too big for me)
* bigger display then xperia p tho
* better camera than average
*android obv

moto g if you tend to lose phones often seems like a safe bet, or a lil more for a 2nd hand motox

Moto G would be my recommendation as well. My son has one and it is a really good device, offering performance somewhere between an S3 and S4 but with a trivial cost (just $180). The only downside IMO is the camera is not so great (5 MP with a smallish sensor by modern standards). There is also the fact that it doesn't have LTE, but it's data snappiness is only marginally worse in most situations with steaming video being the only area in which hiccups might be felt (well, unless you are on Verizon, in which case your data will be knocked back to CDMA-level 3g, but the phone only costs $100 on Verizon).

So yeah, Moto G FTW!

I would guess so, but I am not sure. If you were iPhone transplants (and if they were still on iPhones), then I would have suggested it was a problem with iMessage. But your situation baffles me.

Anyone have experience getting play store stuff on a Kindle fire hdx? I was recently gifted one and it's awesome but I'm generally extremely disappointed with the app store and I hear the workarounds are doable.

This would be the place to go, but upon a quick glance it doesn't seem like they are having tons or success or anything. You will probably be able to achieve root (which is plenty) but there don't appear to be any ROMs out there or anything.

not sure if this helps, but i was just having a problem loading an app from the appstore on my s4 and just dl'd it on my pc and after download it tells you on the right how to get it onto either a fire hdx or any other android device via cloud.

cant you buy a used nexus 4 from ebay or something ?
The market is really country dependant , usa seems to have a really great 2nd hand market since most people have some ******ed contract and change phone with contracts so you have a huge market of cheap phone.

it should be compatible , they have one version which is china only but that version should work everywhere unless your country use some unconventional frequences.
