I also have the Droid Turbo and it still works great. I bought both of my kids Droid Turbo 2's for Christmas and the phones are solid. You can't beat the Droid Turbo 2 refurb's on Ebay for sub-$150. The ones I bought looked brand new.

The only thing I did was put a glass screen protector on each to prevent scratches. But those are also pretty cheap (<$10).

well, your price range is from 200 - 650 usd, that's quite a range

you could look at a refurbished samsung galaxy s7. i am (still) extremely happy with the phone. it's waterproof, has wireless charging, a still very solid camera. yes, it's not pure stock and you won't get much updates after android 8.0 (or maybe 8.1), but it should be available for ~$250

no idea if it will work on verizon, you need to check this yourself.

well, it will get the 8.0 update in the next few weeks and probably some further security patches after that. at least that's my knowledge.

Can I have your top 5-10 apps you can't live without?

You can exclude: wunderlist, whatsapp, email stuff, social media stuff, uber

I finally got a quality phone and I feel like I'm underusing it. App world is just so damn vast. Thanks y'all!

The above app works great and is so handy. I wish I knew about it years ago.

I guess others that I use:

Google Surveys (Fast easy app cash)
McDonalds App
Wendy's App
Chick-fil-a app

All decent money savers.

Thanks for the rec. Phone specs look awesome, and price is way better than Pixel or S9, but I can't find any new ones being sold in the US that come with a warranty.
$500 on a phone without a warranty is a no go for me.

Also I've had a hard time verifying if it works on Verizon's network?

I ended up buying a Pixel XL 128GB for $335. It was listed as used, but is in perfect condition and has no cosmetic damage whatsoever. Not sure if Im sucker for paying another $30 for a third party 1 year warranty (from Assurant), but it makes my feel better.
Apparently the phone had never been sold or activated previously. Not that matters now but any way to verify that?

Also is there any way to get rid of that annoying weather icon attached to the date, and google bar at the bottom of the screen? The date was present, but not the weather attachment. Neither was present when I first set up the phone, and they both randomly showed up just now. For the life of me I can't figure out how to turn them off or how they were installed. Assuming they were attached to some app or widget but I've spent hour searching. LolOld I guess.

Thanks for all previous help, and any help you can provide with the current issue.

Another annoying problem is that the red underline to show spelling mistakes does not work on the stock google keyboard. Ive toggled every spellcheck and autocorrect setting I can find and nothing seems to fix it

AFAIK the Google bar and the date/weather at the top are stock and can't be removed. I've gotten used to them on my pixel and kinda like them, but I also use widgets to get my apps on the home screen so the real estate isn't really needed

Weird.
They most definitely were not there when I first got the phone. I messed around with it for 2 days before activating, and had the home screen configured exactly how I wanted it.
(The date was there, the weather was not, the Google bar was not)
A bunch of apps updated automatically the day it was activated, as soon as the phone auto connected to wifi at my house, and I'm pretty sure thats when they popped up on my home screen.

Thats also when the keyboard started spazzing out and stopped showing spelling errors. It updated, and something in the new version has a bug because I checked my old phone (which was still connected to WiFi and also updated) and it's having the same keyboard problem all of a sudden.

Anyone have any idea wtf is going with G-board or how to go back to the old version?

edit - one of the updates was to Android 8.1.0 - not sure which version was on the phone before that update, but maybe that's where the issues are coming from? I

Update:
99% certain both the G bar and the weather icon are a result of Pixel Launcher updating. I must have had the original version still on the phone. After digging around I found a bunch posts on various forums from late 2017 by people who wanted to turn the weather ON lol. The answer was invariably to update Pixel Launcher to the newest version.

Super annoying to have the weather displayed and the temp is always way wrong.

Not that this helps, but yes I believe it was the update to 8.1 that added the G bar

I think Gboard has superpassed SwiftKey by a mile at this point. Prediction quality is indistinguishable (assuming you give it the time it needs to train), SK is bloaty/laggier, and GB has much better QoL gestures like the backspace dragging and spacebar cursor sliding.

I have Swiftkey. Its not any better overall imo, and spellcheck doesn't work on that keyboard either. Whatever is causing the issue, its affecting all apps that require typing
