Not visual - but I'm pretty happy with the stock Android voicemail capability. Just push a play button and I listen to the message, and there's a trash can button to delete it. As long as I don't have to dial a number and navigate with the numbers I'm fine.

I like Google voice and it's free.

I didn't realize voicemail was standalone. I thought this only worked with a Google voice number ?

You're right, it's not standalone but it integrates with a phones voicemail nicely. My google voice number is my main number. I never give out my actual cell number.

What I believe to be my stock Android vm is visual and I love it.

My kids (two) want phones so that they can goof around texting each other. They are only in elementary school, so I'm not giving them each their own cell phone to use as they please, but I do have a couple Android phones I don't use that I figure I could let them just use in the house on wifi like mini-tablets (we also have tablets).

Is there a way/good way to setup the two phones so that they can have some fun texting each other in the house?

Neither phone would have a SIM card, so neither would actually have active cell service. Like I said, they would be on wifi like a tablet. I also plan to have them both on the same Google account so that they can both access all their games that they have on the tablets.

I've read that setting up two Google Voice numbers might be a way. Maybe just downloading an IM app that can allow them each to setup their own account would work? Downside to this might be that it might not look like "real" texting, but I don't know.

No you can use Google voice for voice-mail with your main number. That's how I do it.

Can they each have their own login/profile while using the same Google account?

Does Android even send SMS messages over wifi?

Google voice can over hangouts.

God the rumors were true. Pixel starts at $649 and the 128GB XL is $849, payment options exclusively through Verizon or buy direct from Google. No, thank you.

Long live the 6p!

The lack of support for project fi is mindboggling.

Yea $650 is definitely too high. Still might consider it though if reviews are stellar in a couple months and there's a good cyber monday deal or some ****. The 6P is great but it's just too big for me.

The Pixel looks really nice imo. If people are liking it, I can get $200 for my 6P, and pay <$600 for the Pixel, I'd definitely have to consider that.

Probably picking up the 6p at this price point. It looks like the only real value add is the camera.

Wow really? Nice. Will def be curious for your opinion. When does it actually come out? I'm under the impression that you can "preorder" now, but didn't ever see a release date...?

ETA: Don't read into this question too much, but I'd also ask, "why?"

I pre-ordered both a Pixel and Pixel XL, 128GB (planning to cancel one once I figure out which size I want). I'm not happy about the price, but this phone is otherwise exactly what I'm looking for so I'm going to splurge.

What I'm looking for - pure Google, fast updates, great camera, above-average battery life, premium design (I think the black looks awesome). Yeah the lack of better water resistance is annoying, but other than that it's pretty much perfect for me.

One nice thing is, I think this is the first time in history that the smaller screen version of a phone doesn't give anything else up. That's pretty big, pun intended.

Well, in Android history... the iPhone 6/6s/7 small/big versions were the same (aside from camera OIS and dual camera).

i just pre ordered the black 128gb XL but it doesnt arrive until nov 23rd or something. my broken 6p might not make it till then.

anyone else have problems with upload speed on project fi? I'll have otherwise good service and be able to receive messages on apps like skype/slack but for whatever reason just can't get a message to go out.

My Nexus 6 is starting to show it's age. I needed something with 3x carrier aggregation and 256 QAM. I liked all of the previous Nexus products. I don't like Samsung, and I'm sure as hell not getting an iPhone. I'm not price sensitive.
