now that usb c is out buying anything that isn't usb c is shameful and im not just talking about phones.

to wit the surface pro 4 really missed the mark. not like i was going to buy a $2,000 tablet anyways but still. ****ing apple got rid of their precious thunderlightning on their latest laptop.

Is that the only downside?

I'm conflicted

Note 4 vs Note 5.

* Note 4 has removable battery, expandable storage, and IR.
* Note 5 has better processor, more RAM, and better "build quality"

How much better each of those things is I will leave up to you.

When it first came out I heard there was some complaints about lag but that may have been addressed with updates. Either way I don't think it was a deal killer.

Aah, I thought it was the Style that was gonna be the new droid maxx, instead that is the one that has the different name with play becoming the droid eventually.

Note 5 isn't out in UK, I have a note 4. If they are getting rid of sd cards and removable batteries I'm pretty much done with Samsung.

I'm not sure we've talked Google Now for awhile-

Do you guys use it? If so, in what way? Like just browse it in the morning? I'm not really talking weather/traffic/scores where I get notifications without doing anything - I just mean the screen or whatever with all the cards. I pretty much never scroll through the list because it's such a mix of stuff. I'm always use a more specific app. Am I doing it wrong?

(Google Now On Tap is different - I'm looking forward to that)

The time to work and home is handy. The fact that it automatically incorporates traffic and accidents can be darn useful.

I've heard that this is a thing... do you have to have location services on though? I usually have it off for battery saving purposes.

idk... I assume so. I have it on.

I wouldn't be surprised, but it doesn't need to be on for what I'd like it to do (and what I assume it's doing for you), which is basically to offer a card during normal commuting times showing the best route to/from home/work (which are both saved locations in the googles for me).

That would've been nice that day a truck flipped over and my commute was 3 hours...

I just tweaked with some settings though, so I'll have to see if that changes anything.

I currently use it like a news app. Just check it every few hours, like three or four times a day I'd guess inc last thing at night. Its pretty good at delivering articles I'd want to read and weather is useful info to look up I guess. The agenda is good (and a great card they added).

On Tap is really good (the concept anyway, not sure if it's as good as promised), looking forward to getting that.

I like it, esp for sports scores, and traffic is good for when something unusual happens. Kinda gets confused sometimes and says "time to home xx minutes" and the map has the casino as home.

No battery issues I think.

The problem I have with the sports scores is that the card is usually way old and not the current state of an ongoing game.

Didn't it ask you when you first got the phone what home and work was?

I think it gives you it's guess and you say yes or no.

Yeah I get the time to home/work as a notification which is handy. But it always says "15 minutes more than normal". I wonder if it will ever adjust what it thinks is "normal".
Maybe I'll just try browsing it more often for news/etc as an alternative to feedly.

In other news, I just got a moto x pure (style) in case anyone wants to AMA.

The time to home has sucked for me as I don't drive to work and it's incapable of selecting a good train route.

No complaints so far BUT I've barely used it since I don't have a nano sim card yet. Need to stop by Verizon.

Also I'm going from a Note 2 (kit-kat) so just the fact that I'm now on non-touchwhiz lollipop gives it a huge aesthetic upgrade. Build quality seems very good. Love the front-facing stereo speakers. I don't have to cup my hand around the back for acoustics like I've been doing for 2.5 years.

The standard soft-touch back is not as grippy as I thought it would be / had read.
