Right. Two words in which the 'priv' is not even pronounced the same (in the usa). Brilliant marketing.

Overall looks pretty good. Depending on battery life may give the Moto X a run for its money although my hunch is that the Moto X is a better buy in terms of price value.

I just recently noticed that in my group texts convos theyre not really working like they have been in the past. if im in a group chat with for example al/jo/bo it will send me a text from al in a text message just from al not in the group text and it will make me tap download in order for the message to appear in the group text. it is the same will all my other friends and group texts.

also ive noticed since ive been group texting alot more recently that my phone seems like its lagging when i try to tap the button to go back. is this cause when i tap the download button on the text that its staying somewhere in my phone, causing me to have an excessive amount of text/things "downloaded" on my phone somewhere?

FWIW im on a galaxy s5 ive tried to delete all my group messages every once and a while, but that hasnt seemed to really be too helpful.

Is there a way to backup an apps data on a phone that you can't root and has a locked bootloader?

I want to move a games data from one phone to another phone.

Yeah. Looks weird, big screen that will put people off. Seems really good otherwise.

Its hard to have strong opinions given the state of the market. Its starting to become fixed around a couple of archetypes all using very similar build materials and software that's all roughly the same once you install a launcher.

Ahh, the files are on the sdcard partition. Cool.

My phone chokes on group texts as well. It lags for a good 10 seconds every time I get an incoming group message. It doesn't have anything to do with excessive storage. I also sporadically get the same issue with 'tap to download' in a separate individual text thread from the person (this is because a group text is actually an MMS like a picture, not a regular SMS). In the past it was happening semi-regularly, but it hasn't happened in awhile. I don't have any explanation or solution - just wanted you to know you're not alone. Group texts are kinda notorious for being wonky.

I'm utterly disappointed by the new nexuses. 5x is $379 in the US which turns into 479 EUROS. At this price I'll just go with a motorola or a cheap Wiko. Screw them. Also they both look ugly, wtf is wrong with the black thing at the top.

Nexus 6p:

5x: the lense seems to way come out of the case

Nexus 6P does seem pretty lol to me, and whatever the new big Moto is seems like it crushes it.

Nexus 5X seems decent - if you don't mind the weird look of the lens the elephant guy above me mentioned. 2 GB RAM probably not as bad as the haters think, fingerprint sensor sounds goat + way faster than iphones + integration with apps.

I'm thinking of getting a new phone. Thoughts on this:

Is there better value else where?

Yah the RAM is whatever; doubt there's a noticeable difference in daily use. The single speaker is disappointing; I realize I'm in the minority in caring more about that than camera. I'll probably still get it if Google/T-Mobile sort out the radio issues; been waiting forever for a ~5" phone w/ decent battery that supports Band 12.

Yea you're weird but tbh I don't care much about cameras either. I think having an acceptable camera is important, but anything above that is probably photography nerd realm.

Good point about the Band 12 - it doesn't support that right? That's a big concern to me as a T-Mobile customer as well (although I'm not really looking at a new phone for a while, but I just like to stay informed).

ETA: On that last point, I could probably recommend the LG G4 if you're ok with a bit bigger of a phone (to me it's a nice medium size).

Nobody really knows which is annoying. It should be supported by the time it's released. Then again so should've the Motorola's and they're not.
Ya I might take another look at the G4. I was set on HTC's M9 until all the reviews destroyed it; not sure how they managed to produce a worse screen/battery than the yr before.

I actually just read on a Nexus AmA thing on reddit that they're trying to get band 12 support in by release date, as you suspected.

The main thing that's different about the G4, which hopefully you're aware of, is the back buttons/tap to wake system. I personally love it, but stay away if you think you'd have a bad experience.

I'm a huge Google fanboy but if you ask me, they dropped the ball with the 5x. I don't even care much about the RAM. I'm mostly pissed about the size of the phone. It's basically the same physical size as the G4 but with a smaller screen. My N5 is right on the border of too big for one handed use and my hands aren't small at all. If I'm gonna be forced to buy a bigger phone I'm gonna at least want to maximize screen real estate in the frame.

Also big lol @ 16gb base model. The approach to this phone screams laziness to me. I guess I'm only annoyed cause my N5 screen got cracked recently and was looking to replace with this.

It's proportionally the size it should be with that slightly smaller screen.

Its only 3mm wider than the old 5" screen N5 and from what I've read the design of the edge makes it feel no larger than the old 5.

Oh and fwiw if you care strongly about storage the 16gb N5p was never for you. Its there so people have the option of buying the cheaper device because they aren't cramming their phone with tonnes of apps. I wouldn't buy it, but I appreciate that they made it for other consumers because the entire point of the android market is tonnes of options for everyone to fine tune their choice to their needs.

It'd clear the 6x is the flagship and the 5p is the mid range and it's designed and and built to that ethos with lots of good enough parts chosen over spec whoring. The names alone should tell you that with x for nexus and p for whatever the **** they said p was for. Pure I think.

It's 6P and 5X. P is for premium, X is for like core nexus or something.

Can someone explain to me the use-cases where I would care about band 12? I'm going to be switching to t-mobile soon and I'm not quite getting whether I should be concerned or not.

I don't care much about the 16gb base, but it's still a joke for the price, especially since we're heading into 2016 now.

I am interested in your comment about it feeling similar in hand as N5 tho. If that is indeed the case I would feel much better about it. Basically one handed use is the biggest deal breaker for me. Like I said I feel I'm at the point where anymore reaching will require hand yoga exercises lol.

I'm sure it's a great phone as I have been very pleased with my current phone, just didn't think it was much of a step up considering a 2 year gap plus a price bump.

Apparently they focused on THINTHINTHIN for the N5 (for size usability). To the extent that they left out wireless charging.

And a big reason imo for 16gb is, you know, the cloud.

Band 12 provides MUCH better in building coverage than Band 2 or Band 4. And provides much better rural coverage as well. Due to it being a lower frequency (700 MHz vs 1700-2100 MHz), it penetrates further and travels farther.

That said, it's only a 5 MHz channel, so your speeds aren't going to be incredible compared to Band 2 or Band 4. However carrier aggregation will help with that.

Thank you.
Sounds like it's a nice-to-have but I shouldn't freak out that I ordered a moto x pure and they haven't activated it yet?
