Make sure your ipad is unpaired while trying to pair your Tab?

OnePlus one has good battery life using CyanogenMod (cm) os. If you go to Oxygen OS battery life suffers - with moderate use at best I still wasnt making it a full day. I don't think any phone will give you 18hr screen on time esp if droid maxx did not do it.

I agree as well I would sacrifice a bit of thickness for better/bigger battery. But with my OnePlus/CM i generally make it through even a heavy day which is all i personally care about so it is not a huge issue.

Any feedback? Especially if you went from a prev Samsung and used the swappable battery and ext storage.

The big one is whether fast charge can replace a decent size swappable battery.
I had an HTC with a removable battery and had 3-4 extras so never had my phone plugged in.

Finally upgraded to the Note 4 which has a removable battery and fast charging. I immediately bought an extra battery since I was so used to swapping batteries.

I quickly realized that with the battery life + fast charging I was never using my extra battery.

But then I let my friend borrow my tablet for a few days and even though fast charging is amazing, I found myself busting out the extra battery and reverting back to swapping batteries.

Some might not care about having to be plugged in for 20-30 minutes here and there but for me it's still worth having a removable battery especially if I don't have a tablet to use while my phone is charging. And also for long trips but some people don't need to factor that in.

My brother and his wife both have the s6 and his wife already switched back to the note 4 and my brother is eyeing his next purchase. That's anecdotal but I really don't see any reason to buy an s6 rather than a note 4.

I'm finding s-pen-gate pretty funny. This could actually be a pretty big deal for Samsung.
How did they allow this? They knew it was a problem to the point they put warming in the "manual," but that's it? Big blunder considering it wouldn't have been that hard to design it such that this wasn't an issue.

Don't understand the S6 backlash. It's been the best phone decision I've ever made. Battery life is great, if need be, use the power saving options available. My phone charges in no time at all when plugged in. Bought a portable battery for traveling but never need it otherwise.

Figured it out...the first device pairing is automatic, but for additional (up to 8) you have to press a button on the speaker to pair.

Note 4, 5.0.1

If I try and change the display timeout time to anything other than 15 seconds, it changes until I shut the screen off via the side button and then goes back to 15 seconds in the settings.

I've also tried turning on the smart stay that is supposed to keep the screen on when I am looking at it, and it will not do that either. The notification icon pops up for is at 15 seconds of no touch like it's looking for me, and then the screen dims and shuts off.

Any ideas here?
Updating in case any one else has this issue. I recently downloaded notifier pro to set up different notification tones for different stuff. Apparently it has a setting for the display timeout and lock screen timeout that was set at 15 and overriding me changing it.

I've seen some videos showing how bad the RAM management is on the S6. Doesn't it bug you how frequently your device is closing apps while still having mediocre to poor battery?

Is there anything android that would let me Skype on my tv (dumb tv) and allow me to cut out cable, but still use YouTube, Netflix etc.

Chrome cast? I don't know if Skype works with it, but YouTube and Netflix do.

Does anyone else get pissed when an app gets updated and under "what's new" in the play store there's nothing there that wasn't last time?

This happens way more often than it should. (sometimes vs never)

You can mirror your screen to your tv, but it s still experimental, should work for skype but unlikely to be great.

At home i use a combo of NAS + chromecast and it s pretty good so far. Some android tv box would be better if you can afford it tho.

Sometimes that "card" (or tile or whatever) seems to be cached from the last time you updated the app. I can get it to reload by pressing back from the app update screen to the app list screen, then going back to the app to be updated.

Also, sometimes devs just don't update that info so there's nothing new to see. You can tell the difference between these two situations by checking the "Updated on" date at the bottom (which is programmatically generated so it should be accurate).

welp, I smashed my original Moto X (Verizon last night) and am back in the market for something. Temporarily using my old Razr M (which reminded me how much it's the ideal size for me).

and once again, pretty confused as to the complete lack of non giant phones on Android.

The Galaxy S6 is actually smaller than either of the 2 pending Motorola phones but that's still way bigger than I want.

HTC One Mini (or Remix?) is probably the leading contender, but that does not get great reviews. I might actually go buy an iPhone 5s as that's the only thing comparable in size that ever got great reviews. confused how this is the state of the phone market, on Verizon anyways. or am I missing something? I could go buy a Droid Mini but that's 2 years old and was crimped back then.

the Sony Xperia Z3 compact looks right up my alley but of course it's not on Verizon

or might just go another Razr M for backup in case this one dies

are you sure? googling seems to say that if the phone doesn't exist on Verizon, it's not going to work on Verizon. IE you might be able to get a Moto X you were using on US Cellular to work on Verizon (b/c a Moto X branded Verizon phone exists) but as there is no Samsung S5 Mini on Verizon it's not gonna work.

In case anyone is as dense as I am and was having trouble keeping all the new Moto phones straight:

G is out now, Style out in September (date not announced yet), and Verizon variants prob will be announced October?

I'm pretty excited about getting the Pure, though I'd prob choose the Play if it was coming here since the size/battery is more appealing. Buying direct from Motorola for a great price makes these very enticing imo.

Also, the G is getting rave reviews and is a dirt cheap option for wife/kids/whoever doesn't need top specs.

I've got to travel a lot soon and want to bring along a USB stick with some media to watch. I've got a USB on the go cable. What app do I need to access the files to watch them on my tablet? I want to be able to just read files via MX Player or something without having to transfer them onto the tablet.
