It works probably.... 99% of the time.... which sounds like a lot but results in a lot of annoying hickups when you send hundreds of texts/week.

Hangouts works beautifully, but my gf is on iPhone/ATT already using texting and iMessage and she's pretty opposed to managing a 3rd (2nd?) messaging app on her phone.
Nope, can't do iMessage on Android.

Is the problem with the stock messaging program or texting in general? Like, have you tried a different texting app like Google Messenger or Textra? Or you can also do SMS within Hangouts if you make it your default SMS app.

I've gotten most of my friends to use Hangouts or a dedicated group texting app (GroupMe in our case, though Whatsapp would also have worked) since I think using actual SMS messaging is silly. Unfortunately, I can't get my family to see the light...

Thanks, yea that's what I thought...

The problem is text messaging in general, I believe, because T-Mobile. I use Textra, but to be fair I'm not 100% sure it wouldn't work better on another app. It's painful to do a legit test though because it's such an intermittent problem.

And yea I personally don't mind having separate apps (I actually don't like how hangouts integrates with sms for contacts who use both; at least last time I tried it), the problem is with communicating with my gf who uses iMessage/sms and doesn't wanna deal with other stuff. She'll hop on hangouts if I'm unresponsive just in case, but it's not ideal.

Texting on T-Mobile in general, is apparently a crap shoot. I have multiple friends & family on T-Mobile & sometimes texts just don't go through, both sending & receiving.

Yep... sucks. I love the company other than this. But all my tiny/infrequent bad experiences are starting to accumulate to my overall pissed-off level.

Possibly, but I'd be surprised. I'm in a major city fwiw. Do you text a lot?

I've heard it's a somewhat common thing, I dunno how much of a factor luck plays here though.

Easiest way to send a video through text message? Is it possible without resorting to google drive/youtube/dropbox?

I'm on Verizon, and for the first time ever a few months ago my texts were taking forever to send and I'd get very late texts, I used the 4g switch app to set it from global mode to cdma/lte only and things got better immediately.

WhatsApp.

I find it really remarkable that WhatsApp isn't more commonly used by people on this forum, which I assume is mostly 'cause of the demographic breakdown here (Americans). "Everyone" in Europe uses it, it is outstanding.

It's like a better version of iMessage that Android and iPhone and Blackberry can all use to text very very well - images; video; audio; emoticons; text; groups; etc.

I basically never use standard text messaging (SMS) any more.

Yea, that's nice. I've only heard great things about WA. Wish it was standard here too, it would solve my above problem perfectly (if everyone was already using it).

My thoughts exactly about Telegram. I've sent/received 4 standard texts in 2 months.

I've been amazed at how fast it's been adopted by my family and friends. A couple of them that were on WhatsApp said they liked Telegram better and switched (they said message delivery is faster for them). A couple of them liked being able to provide some people just their username to chat without having to give them their phone number.

I've never used WhatsApp so I have no idea what the differences are.

Im looking to upgrade my phone from a Galaxy S4. Im stuck between S6 and LG G4 as it seems like a few of you were before. How is the battery life with the G4 for normal everyday use? I mainly only care about better camera, battery life and feel like im leaning towards getting the G4 which im kind of surprised over since i had no problems really with my Galaxy 4.

Anyone have any regrets or problems with the G4?

I broke my phone last week a 2 year old Motorola. I've been with a moto for years. Switched to a S6. I just started reading through the thread did I make a mistake not getting the LG?

I recently chose the g4 over the s6, if you're curious on my thought process I explained in post 2654.

After about a month of use, there are 3 negatives that come to mind
1. Battery life isn't as good as I hoped initially, but I never run out and don't really worry about it and LG gave me a spare battery/external charger.
2. The software hiccups every once in a while for me. Like it freezes for 3-5 seconds for it to "catch up"

Size/feel is just amazing, and overall I'm still quite happy.

Thanks Saw. I did read that post and it was one reason i figured i would like the G4 over the S6 since I felt like I had similar preferences. I was hoping to read a follow up so much appreciated on the reply.

I see you said you have 3 negatives that come to mind but you only list 2. Was there one more, or only really 2 you could think of?

In regards to the battery life, what made it not as good as you initially hoped? Are you are heavy user of your phone?

Software hiccups would make me think otherwise if they happen frequent enough. I feel like when I read reviews of the S6 people were complaining about some type of crashes but ive read so many reviews of each I cant remember what they were about.

Oh haha, yea I think I had initially thought of 3 things but then could only think of two... Honestly regarding the battery, I was thinking yesterday that it's probably a bit better than I give it credit for. All day at work I'm in a bad service spot so my phone must be pinging for service frequently. Yesterday, a weekend day, I explicitly noticed amazing battery life. It's tough to say though, and I'd also take what I'm saying with a grain of salt if I were you, since I think experiences will vary wildly.

I do think the consensus in the community, however, is that it has better battery life than the S6.

The hiccups are pretty minor, and thinking about it, no phone is going to be perfect these anyway. It might benefit you to go to a store and try to play around with both of the phones a bit. It won't be greatly representative about real life, but sometimes you notice some intangible things that can swing it one way or the other.

Anyone excited for the oneplus two?
Fingerprint scan does nothing for me so I was disappointed to see it since that will add to the cost, but seems like there's a good chance it'll be $400 which is still nice.

I love my Oneplus one but I'm not excited for the 2. It's rumored to be metal unibody which doesn't really matter to me since I use a case. And the incremental hardware upgrades don't really get my dick hard either. I'm running a 5.1.1 ROM and couldn't be happier with performance and battery on the one.

Eh I'm not sold yet on usb c. Its a catch 22 where I wouldn't want it until all my devices had it and it's unlikely I'll update my tablet any time soon. I like the idea of it, but it's not a selling point for me.

Fingerprint scanner that works well if it's touch not swipe would be a feature I would want.

I'm fine with a unibody construction only if the battery life is a legit full day. My S5 gets a battery swap daily before I leave work when it's in the teens or less.

Im thinking of a new phone in the next six months so it's on my list, but it's not grabbed me that much yet. Honestly I'm more interested in the physical keyboard blackberry android phone, at least as a concept anyway.
