Phone calls only work on speaker on my s4. Just mysteriously stopped working one day reset phone and checked all the settings to make sure the volume was up. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Very idiot question here.

I have an N5 that is fully up to date. I went to a movie last night and when I tried to toggle the volume off from the home screen on my phone the volume switch wouldn't work. I could toggle volume when I went to Sounds in the settings menu, when I was in an app (tumblr/twitter/FB etc) that hosts vids/music and I could toggle ringer volume when I went into the dialer. Also, I could switch volume/vibrate/off when I held the power button down and the option for "power off/airplane mode/volume" menu appeared.

I could swear I used to be able to toggle volume from the home screen before without having to be in an app or dialer, did this change with an android update?

I used Aviate on my phone, perhaps it was in one of the recent Aviate updates?

I found it odd so I thought to ask.

I am frustrated with something simple on my N5, i use the "gallery" app to view my pictures and such.
Somehow i recently turned on Google picture auto backup, which is fine,
When i open "gallery" there are separate folders for things like
Camera
Pictures
Screenshots
Downloaded
etc
BUT now that ive turned on the Google picture Auto backup, another folder appeared called:
Auto Backup ( it has what looks to be a picassa Icon)
It is redundant, i don't really need a folder with and exact duplicate of all the pictures on the Camera folder. Is there a way to no show this folder other than turn off google auto back up?

Additionally, and this one has really got me perplexed:
Also within Gallery there is a folder called
Posts- email.address ( another Google account that is signed in so i can check Gmail using the Gmail app) ( this one also has a Picassa Icon) Auto backup is NOT on for that account.
this folder has ONE item in it and it is a single page document.picture of a spec sheet for a pool light i got in an email sometime back.
I CANNOT delete it form within the folder or using any other method.
What is the POSTS folder and how to i get rid of it?

Yeaaaaaaaaaah UPGRADE TIEEEEEEEEMZ

It's basically the M8 vs G3 vs S5

right? Is there anything coming out soon I should wait for?(besides iPhone 6) F the Note 4, don't care about it.

People are saying G3 is so much better than the S5 and phone of the year, but it seems like it's not really offering much over the S5 aside from a massive resolution which is probably not detectable and seems to hinder performance and battery life.

I'll be putting whatever I get in a case if that matters, as I've cracked every single smartphone I've ever owned going back to my Blackberry 8800 from 2005.

I upgraded to the M8 from the iPhone 4 and cannot be happier thus far.

At first back in April I was set on getting the S5 but after watching too many youtube videos I'm glad I went with the M8. I know with Android you can put on a ton of different launcher etc... but I think Sense 6 is super easy and not glitchy as well, and I like blinkfeed even though I don't use it too often but you can customize it to how you want it.

I could care less about a camera but if you want the best camera itd be either the S5 or G3.

Speakers care awesome, I can listen to and hear everything super clearly with the shower running or if I'm using the stove in my kitchen etc...

The only things I like better with the G3 and S5 are that they have plastic removable backs.

Honestly you can't go wrong with any of the 3 but I really love my M8 and would recommend it

KP, I pretty much agree with your post. Also on the S5's side is the fingerprint reader and waterproofness. Those two sentences are why I got the S5.

Decided to go with the G3, thanks.

My Note 2 was plagued with problems. Headphone jack didn't work out of nowhere and then the SIM card also just died out of nowhere. Maybe just bad luck. Honestly biggest draw for the S5 to me would be the aftermarket support. Cases, screen covers, roms will have more options on the S5. Oh well.

omg im so ascited

edit

slow pwnied so bad.

Now I can get an S5 at 99.00 or a Note 3 at 49.00 with 2 years. Decisions decisions. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time.

I don't think anyone stated a single legitimate benefit to the G3. Oh well.

Well, my volume control toggle works on any screen but now my phone isn't accepting incoming calls. I missed a few calls today because of this that were somewhat important.

I just had 3 people call my # and for everyone of them it rang once and went to voicemail.

Tried it again with WIFI off and I receive calls fine but with WIFI on it won't receive calls.

??

Also,

earlier today I was using google navigate and only when I turned on the gps did I receive 6 text messages and get notified of a missed call and voicemail from an hour earlier.

Could this just be an issue with wifi or an issue with the phone?

phone hasnt been dropped/smashed/submerged and is well taken care of.

32 jee bees instead of 16. On an iPhone with iGigs that's a $100 option right there.

Oh and bigger screen. I'm pretty excited, same size screen as the Note 2 in a much smaller and lighter package.

Sorry I did NOT read any of this thread.

I'm looking to switch over from iphone to droid.

Is there a great phone on the market now, or should I wait for the new one(s) to drop?

Thanks in advance!

It's in your account sync settings somewhere. I know you can turn of Picasa via Google sync settings because that's what Google does by default, the other services are probably like that too. I'd poke around in there a bit but if not I think this is pretty Googleable iirc.

I find the fingerprint reader to be a trade off. Its not as fast or reliable as pattern lock, it sometimes needs a second swipe and it takes a fraction of a second to go from locked to homescreen due to animation telling you the print worked (no kidding Samsung, it just unlocked), but its more secure than the pattern and less fiddly to use than a password. I just wish you could scan more than three fingers, I see no reason it even needs such a limitation, and the swipe to read motion is meh.

Waterproofing is something I hope to never test, it was something I never needed on my old phones, but if it saves a phone once every five years then awesome and it was a big selling point for me. I also plan to use this one in a waterproof case on holiday next month and I am much less worried about doing so than when I just had the N5.

I find the fingerprint reader to be 100% reliable. When I need a second swipe it's because I'm a piece of crap and didn't swipe right. But I definitely agree with the post-successful-swipe-animation, that's kind of annoying. And will probably be like 3x more annoying now that you pointed it out lol.

Was kind of curious to try the pattern unlock. With no knowledge about either, I definitely had preferred the fingerprint reader (1 quick swipe seems faster to me vs tapping a pattern) - but I can see how the pattern could be better. I'm tempted to switch off the lock screen in my day to day life (or maybe just during the week) though, since the risk is pretty low and I'd like to just have instant access to my phone.

Facepalm Well, that was easy, i had poked around in the dashboard prior and didn't see anything, but the photo was buried under "more" tab somehow. Deleted it, turned sync back on for the account on the phone and refreshed. Gone.

Now, i still see the Auto back up folder on the phone with the redundant group of photos, i dont see a way to remove that without turning autobackup off.

Does anyone know of an app that will let me control a tablet from my phone? For example, I'm on a long drive in the car. The tablet is mounted to the headrest and my son is watching movies. Is there an app that I can install on my phone that will list the movies I have loaded on the tablet and allow me to start one on the tablet?

Hey guys, I went down to the store today and picked up a new S5. Coming from a Blackberry to an IPhone I have no experience with Android.

There are TONS of generic looking apps on it. I'm looking for a site that I can go to that will guide me on what to delete, what not to, what to tweak, and how to do it.

What I'd like to do is get rid of most everything and then piece everything together cleanly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you need to root and you use some app call root explorer or some equivalent if you want to remove those crappy apps

You can use tasker or Llama for something like that. I have a pattern unlock on my Nexus 5, but Llama disables it when I'm on my home or work wi-fi.
