+1, it's practically every other year or so when there's some low-budget film that turns out really well. When was the last time someone directed a $200 Million film and everyone thought it was hands-down worth it in every way?

The Wrestler wouldn't have won. It might have been nominated over The Blind Side or District 9.

Hurt Locker was a perfectly fine choice and was really good. I might have preferred In The Loop or Big Fan or A Serious Man, but they had no real chance at winning. Hurt Locker is clearly a better movie than Avatar ainec.

Ha, yeah I agree with this exactly. I rented Hurt Locker out of a Redbox on a whim a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was solid and worth my time but not extraordinary. But, totally down with it beating out Avatar.
