Yeah, a 400 lb beast charging is pretty freaking scary. But another 400 lb beast can take it without disintegrating. So I think 300x12 = 3600 lb of dudes will have far better than even shot at it. We are animals, too. And if faced with death, I think a dozen massive dudes swarming a gorilla can immobilize it enough to begin causing serious injuries clawing apart its face, balls, neck, etc. Some dudes gonna get seriously messed up in the process though.

1) A single fighter crawls submissively towards the Silverback, begins nuzzling its hindquarters, transitions into fellatio.
2) A second fighter approaches, also on all fours, to work the nutsack.
3) In twos and threes, the remaining fighters drift in, low to the ground, unthreatening.
4) They begin pawing, grooming, caressing the now-quiescent gorilla, positioning themselves all the while.
5) At a prearranged signal by the team leader, each fighter springs into action.
6) The gorilla returns to alertness only to discover that each of his limbs is pinioned between two fighters who've locked themselves around it. Then someone bites off his penis.

IMO, it's a decent question though. I think 12 is too many and powerlifters strong enough to contain it. Take away a couple/few powerlifters or just make them regular guys or something and I think it's gorilla.

But, gorillas might not have good stamina and IRL the gorilla won't necessarily have good strategy. 12 guys might be able to stick together and keep it from really attacking any of them while they wear it out with hours of running, threatening and being stressed.

gorillas have massively stronger neck muscles than humans, I highly doubt any human is strong enough to choke one out with the gorilla not fighting back let alone when it is

Even if the total mass/strength of the bodybuilders were to match the gorilla's (which I don't think it would, since you can only get so many guys engaging the gorilla at once), the fact that the gorilla has giant, flesh-rending fangs is going to make for a quick contest.

Taking out the eyes and trying to cause catastrophic brain damage to the gorilla before everyone dies is the bodybuilders' best bet, imo.

Guys in the OP are not bodybuilders, they're either powerlifters or strongmen.

I think if the men (in the OP) can think of a tactic before the fight they are pretty likely to win, but pretty unlikely to come out with more than 10 alive.

VS 12 bodybuilders the gorilla wins no problem. Most bodybuilders are not that strong/mobile/functionally powerful.

Probably not the best choice of words there. Gorilla wins only because humans are handicapped and not allowed to use all available resources to them. If not for that, it's game over for the stupid (albeit incredibly strong) gorilla.

The silverback probably has the strength of about 6 of those men. Not only do those men have more strength combined, but there are 12 of them. As long as they have a decent strategy, the strongmen should win.

Well, here's my assessment:

To win, the men would approach the gorilla at every angle, creating a circle around the creature, confusing it, and allowing themselves to attack in unison. They would have to attack at least 3 at once, closing the circle, catching the limbs of the Gorilla and subduing it.

The men would deliver heavy resistence to the limbs of the animal deadening it's muscles, and rendering the creature less capable of launching attacks. I suspect the Gorilla's stamina will sapp quickly due to its weight, especially when facing a 3000 pound wall of mass closing on him.

I belive 8 men should grapple the limbs of the monkey, the remaining 4, should aim to blind the Gorilla by poking it's eyes, jamming kuckles' into it's socket, bashing the general eye area, possibly also delivering heavy blows to the limbs or body (stomach), to hopefully further subdue it. If the men can successsfully blind the creature, then it should be easy work from then on. The creature might withdraw from battle to avoid injury if it feel overwhelmed, in which case the men win.

If the 12 humans were not.....well....."human," this might work.

Seriously, the biggest question in the argument is that these men, approaching this as humans would, are probably going to lose. If you drugged up these guys into some hysterical and crazed state in which they didn't care if they died and only were focussed on a massive group attack that would prevail on volume and some random sacrificing of life while others pound away at vulnerable body parts then yes, I think 12 or less humans could win.

12 men acting like humans, though will all probably try to make sure that other people die in the process of killing the gorilla. That approach will probably insure a massive beat down. I think humans would suck as this.
