Ugh I hate trying to figure this stuff out, so tilting for us non-techies. I just want to buy this and I've spent 45 minutes trying to figure out if this will work on my tablet...

Questions: Can anyone confirm this will work if I download to a Google Nexus 7? (Android) Will it be readable on a 7" screen? I've downloaded Bluefire Reader which says it supports Adobe DRM. Do I just download it straight onto the tablet or do I have to download to my computer then port it across somehow? (And yes I've been googling like crazy and I'm more confused than ever...)

Thanks for any help!

Should work fine. See the last post in the e book FAQ sticky thread for android step by step instructions.

@Professionalpoker

I purchased and imported the ebook on my sony reader, btw the font doesn't change size, the book is close to unreadable.
Once the epub is out I will PM you and you will provide the ebook? Or I have to return the PDF?

ya I bought the ebook yesterday and I'm quite frustrated regarding my options to read the pdf both on pc and Ipad.
For the iPad I tried bluefire reader and Kobo. The former works ok but it doesn't let you zoom in or out, i.e. u cannot edit font size and stuff, which sux balls. The latter is slightly better but the cover didn't actually load and I get a pretty blank page instead. It also made the app crash multiple times until it stabilized lol.
What is more, the main issue for me is that I normally like to read ebooks on my laptop and the book isn't properly configured to be read on adobe digital editions. I struggle whenever I try to zoom in the pages ('cause the default size is just too small for a 15' laptop) and then proceed to scroll up and down. It just lags too much.
Also, the correct configuration should let you browse the pages using the foward and backward arrows on ADE 2.0 (which is not working).

@Professionalpoker
Will u guys be nice to every eager beaver who bought the pdf and give us the epub version as well?
I'd like to point out that it would be better to make available both formats to those who choose the digital version, regardless to whether this will have an impact on ebook prices.

Thanks

Was really waiting for the kindle edition from amazon. Any idea on the eta? If I purchase the PDF will I get the ePub version when it's available? Looking to read it on my iPad. And was hoping to purchase ASAP.

I have a Sony Reader and in best case pdf's work 1/5 as well as ePub's.

In worse case, well, what you're experiencing.

Anyone with a dedicated eReader should wait for a more friendly format than pdf whenever possible.

Nop, it doesn't.

To anyone who has ever used Bluefire reader:
Is it normal for the app to take 1 or 2secs to load every page u browse? I am not sure if that's an issue with this particular book or pretty much any file you put into that app. That makes it even more ridiculously lolbad

Oh yah, I removed and re-saved the file into the app and it now allows me to zoom in and out the pages. However it takes 1sec to load any zoom u make

PS: Tried that in 2 diff. iPads and in 1 iPhone, so I guess I have enough sample to laugh at the app/book config lol

So I take it that the whole 'the link only works once' thing is an admission that any re-release of the e-book would have to be re-purchased by anyone with the original version? One more reason to lean towards Amazon's mobi version - they at least re-issue the book to you whenever the book is updated.

Seems like an unnecessarily 'dead-tree' version-oriented view of publishing.

Same thing for me with Kobo ereader. PDFs are hit and miss whereas EPUBS are always perfect.

So I take it that you like to jump to conclusions without asking any questions? I also take it that you don't understand the difference between an independent bookseller and a massive company that tries to monopolize that market by also selling hardware that locks you into their store and format.

If you like Amazon and the Kindle platform - by all means, stick with it. They do it quite well as long as you don't mind the wait on some titles and a single source for DRM protected files.

For those having problems with the PDF on their portable devices, email me at the store with your order number (I need to keep track of this at one place) and when the ePub is ready, I'll reissue a DL link for you.

Hello,

Does the above mean that once the epub version is out, both formats (pdf+epub) will be included if we buy the e-book version?

Thanks.

No - you should select the one that best suits your primary reading device.

OK, thank you.

@people who bought the PDF:

Is there any issue with it on PC. I know some people are having trouble with all the portable e-readers but what about PCs? Can you zoom in/out? Basically, is there anything that you can do with a normal PDF but can't do with this one?

Thanks.

You should have no problems at all with the pdf on a PC, assuming you download adobe digital editions.

I have had no issue with the PDF on PC so far. You can zoom and use arrow keys/mousewheel to turn the pages(just remember to click inside the window first). I don't care much for the zoom as I would like for it to fit my whole screen but then the text is so massive and not full page that I would have to continually scroll. The fit to page option looks good and is readable.

ProfessionalPoker, by insinuating that I jumped to an invalid conclusion, are you actually saying that when the errata in the other thread gets applied and a corrected version of the book is published in the next print run, that everyone that has purchased the ebook will get a corrected version? If so, hats off, and I'm going to purchase the epub. If not, then please explain how I managed to jump to a valid conclusion, yet still offend you.
