Who’s the target audience for this book? Having to explain what slowplaying is seems like it would be geared toward beginners unless the intent is just to make sure everyone knows how he defines it. Regardless, is this meant to be a beginning, intermediate, or advanced book?

The new book goes through the old book chapter by chapter and shows how the concepts in the original need to be altered when playing no limit. For example the formula for check raises changes because in no limit the original bet can be bigger than the bet you would expect to face if you check. Sometimes the changes would be obvious to all but beginners. Sometimes they involve things that a typical expert might miss. There are also a few bonus chapters that involve some fairly advanced stuff.

Mason got a rough idea of release date. Geez are things getting quiet around here? Been awhile I believe since Dave had a release. Figured this thread would catch fire.

If David answers the following question I will buy the book and tell others I read it:

Backstory~
David, when you were in Reno in early October of last year you sat for the 3-5 No Limit game at the Atlantis. Ben Deach (Newsguy and poker vlogger) opened UTG to 15 and as you flatted with AA UTG+1 you gave a quick “eyes down” glance at his stack. The type of glance that seemed to imply you were thinking, “I have a monster hand here and I need to quickly figure out what I’m up against without anyone noticing.”.

Do you admit you have a live tell?

Well, I just see it that you’re never really in a position to teach until you’re in a position to learn. I’m just testing the author of a book I may buy.

Something tells me your comment would go unacknolwedged in person.

Hey Hal, David Sklansky doesn’t have to prove his poker chops to you or anyone else. He’s one of the most influential contributors to the game. He has absolutely zero to learn from the likes of you.

I think David is probably much better in theory than practice since he probably doesn’t play much No Limit these days. I’ll be buying the book though because I like theory and grew up reading this guy.

...and for what it’s worth, I would never buy a Sklansky book...I would buy two. One to read, take notes in, and give away. Another to keep as a collectible.

In honor of this man, David Sklansky, I’ll state something I’ve learned from him and even more importantly something I learned myself but see it fit to pass on because of the example he set:

1) “you don’t make a slightly good bet if it means when losing you have to leave the table that you’re a favorite at”

2) EV=Wp-L(1-p)
=Wp-L+Lp
=Wp+Lp-L
p(W+L)-L
set to zero
L=p(W+L)
L/(W+L)=p
p-L/(W+L)
So if p is greater than L/(W+L), then it’s plus EV!

Hey, thanks, Mr. Sklansky for all your contributions over the years. You’ve been an inspiration to me.

side note: I’m not all that good at math; so, no one hold me to it.

Depends on your understanding of the game.

Hi Mason, can't wait for the kindle version.
Quick question, if you don't mind, do we have to expect a dedicated Q&A thread with David replying to it?
Ty a lot

There will most likely be a question and answer thread with David once the book gets out there.

So I was reading the first pages of 7 card stud for advanced players and under the introduction to ray zee it says that he has written a book called: Winning High Stakes and Short Handed Hold 'em; Expert Limit Hold 'em for Serious Cash Game & Internet Players

A quick google search brought up no such book. Was it written and not published?? or published under another name.

I didnt bother to start a new thread for it. sorry.
