Has anyone read this book? Thoughts? reviews?

I read and enjoyed Molly's Game. This book appears to take a different perspective on it.

Saw it as a recommendation to me on Amazon.

Read and enjoyed it. Very different slant than Molly's Game took. Bear in mind it's one person's version of events, not a historian's view of events. (Just like Molly's Game - though this one seemed to be a bit more believable / thorough than Molly's Game to me. I wonder if it's just a question of which one you read first that determines who you believe.)

And of course it is for entertainment - it's not going to improve your poker game any.

FYI, i haven't read molly's book... i had the idea it would be too light-weight and self-congratulatory, exactly what these new authors suggest... i have issues with houston curtis too, but different ones than molly. and houston's book definitely dishes the dirt with names and all. and it reads like it's reasonably true.

there's the thread. as noted, i did wonder about author's judgement of toby maguire and the hand where the author had a set of j's. surely, toby can't know that. curious as to what others think..

toby has AKs with Jxx board (xx lower than J and no obvious straight danger). toby had the flush draw and author had pocket JJ

one thing i really wondered about in houston's book.

he claims it's comical that molly seems to think she had "ownership" of the game.. bearing in mind that "ownership" is an intangible concept here, it seems to me that far more things point to molly having more influence on it than toby.

and how houston thought he was above molly in the pecking order of "ownership" of the game........ based on what exactly?

for the characters from book that played on HSP (safi and baxter, maybe others), were they considered decent players or not?

i see it suggested elsewhere that rick salomon is the all-time #1 cash game winner anywhere. interesting. so he's not the fool he's semi-portrayed as.
