I was just doing some browsing and noticed a new book out called:
"Staying Ahead of the Rake" by Gil DuRoss.

Here is a link:
http://www.amazon.com/Staying-Ahead-...274120&sr=11-1

Here is the book description from Amazon:
Staying Ahead of the Rake is the riveting tale of fourteen days in the life of a hardcore poker player, and his buddies, the knock-around guys who flourish at the low limit end of the poker spectrum, loving the life and staying in action. At the same time, it is a primer for learning the skills and attitudes that have enabled them to stay there. Read this book and you'll come to understand the allure, not only of the game, but, also, of the lifestyle, and, at the same time, learn what it takes to consistently win money at poker, how to stay ahead of the rake. How far you stay ahead of the rake will depend on how well you apply these lessons.

Anyone heard anything about this book or the author?
I wonder if this would be a decent book for ones who are thinking of going pro.

It would be interesting to see what kind of "lifestyle" the 3/6 grinder has that is so alluring. Please buy it and review it for the home team?

Personally, I'd hold out for a free review copy, but if you can talk the OP into purchasing it more power to you.

Bump....was a pretty good read...in the book he plays 5/10 limit..funny anecdotes and entertaining stories about him playing full time..i think the Casino he plays in is Turning Stone in Central NYS...did they ever spread 5/10 limit? 6/12 maybe?..googled the authors name ..looks like he owns a painting company so maybe his poker career never took off..

It isn't a new book. It was published in 2007. A new copy is going for $900+ on Amazon. There are a couple of used copies of it on Amazon for a lot less.
