Self Promotion Policy and Ebooks, Advertising on 2+2 Self Promotion Policy and Ebooks, Advertising on 2+2

On our forums, we have been having problems with self promotion for all sorts of stuff, mostly in the Coaching Advice Forum, but it has also been occurring here with non-Two Plus Two authors and publishers announcing their pricing, release dates, and other information concerning their books/ebooks, and we would like for this to stop. The reasons why this needs to cease should be obvious and they won't be discussed here

On the other hand, we do encourage discussion of these products once they are released, and as long as the discussion is focused on the content and not the commercial aspects, these posts/threads, which the authors and publishers can participate in, will be welcome here.

Also, and this is for all authors and publishers, if you have a book/ebook and wish to advertise on our forums, just send me a private message and I will have our advertising representative get in touch with you, or just contact our advertising representative directly.

However, we will not allow advertising of any book/ebook (old or new to the market) if we have reason to believe that anyone who studies this material and follows its advice, will lose their money. It's also my opinion that those authors/publishers who do take advantage of advertising on www.twoplustwo.com will discover that their sales are far more successful than that of their competitors.

Late addition to the OP:

With the recent opening of the Commercial Marketplace, we have a new place for authors and publishers to advertise their books. While it's certainly not as high-profile as a banner ad, this forum does provide a much more economical alternative.

All the rules, pricing, etc. can be found in the Commercial Marketplace Rules thread. Only one publication can be listed per thread - multiple publications will require the purchase of additional threads.

As always, advertising books and/or ebooks on 2+2 is subject to Mason's approval:

And one more quote of Mason's that I'm a big believer in, of course:

As always, we're also happy to work with you on banner advertising campaigns.

I don`t get the lose money part.
Otherwise reasonable. Good job.

There are books on the market today, some of which are authored by well known people, which in our opinion would have a negative effect on your bankroll. So we would not allow a banner ad for one of these.

Best wishes,
Mason

are we still permitted to ask when books will be released? and of course, often the author is the best person to answer.

You just answered your own question. It is a virtual sure thing that the author and/or the publisher has a web site. I would put a lot more trust in info from such a web site than from a random poster here.

Anyone who couldn't find the web site for the author of a certain e-book has been living in a cave in Afghanistan.

You can run searches in this forum, just about every poker book that matters is discussed at some point.

You can ask, but Authors who wish to remain in compliance with this policy will be wise to avoid this topic because its self promotion.

I just think it's cool that Mason Malmuth posts here. You're one of my hero's Mr. Malmuth, sir. I shall not go against your wishes.

I'm not an author, so this is really more for trivia's sake, but is it cool to post a link to his/her site?

Prefer that you don't. Feel free to name a book and its Author and comment on it if you have read it. Folks can Google it if they want to find their site.
