If the book helps develop your poker thought process, I think it would absolutely be applicable to full-ring or 6-max live games.

An epub version would be cool, also. I would have to read the Kindle version on my phone, but I could read an epub version on my Nook.

I really like the comprehensive approach of this book. I noticed that the author has a video on DeucesCracked, so I'm going to check that out and then make a decision on whether to purchase this book. Based on the comprehensive format, sample chapters, quality of the author's writing, and the review by OP, I think this book will be in my poker library shortly.

I wondered the same thing and messaged the author. Never heard back. I ended up buying it anyway, but I sure would rather have it on Kindle.....though it doesn't seem to be happening very fast.

Carroters,

Love the podcasts! Are you still playing on Twitch? And if so, when? I was one of the first in on this thread with a question, but you seem to have missed a whole block of posts early on.

Hey thanks for the question. I'm absolutely fine with this as long as you can email me from the same email address as was used to buy the PDF. I'll send a kindle version to a kindle address that you provide.

We're currently about two weeks away from kindle release. I've had a student build it for me who works as a programer and is much better at HTML. I don't want to release the kindle version with formatting glitches that will annoy people; sorry for the hold up. He expects to be done in about two weeks. I'll update as soon as it's out.

Yes absolutely. While the examples given are all from online six-max, the accademic style of the book teaches how to think about cash games in general and is very useful for full ring live too. The syllabus of the book covers theroy that applies equally to both. There are parts that are less relevant to live play such as PT4 stat interpretation, but these can be replaced in the reader's head by a live read or tendency that creates the same type of exploitatvie opportunity for the spot at hand.

Hey thanks for the question. I teach how to form the right balanced startegies yourself using your own logic, combo awareness, range segregation skills and balance awareness. I also teach how to exploit opponents in hundreds of different exploitatvie spots and variations of said spots. The book starts out with quite a vacuum factor based focus and gradually moves more and more towards more strategic range building situations. The reader will end up with a very strong grasp of exploitative deviation and a solid idea of how to create his own defensive startegies in many different spots.

I don't beleive in memorising GTO recomended startegies as there are just so many little differecnes between poker situations that change what that strategy should be. I'm also very big on population reads. It's usually not the case that Hero should be playing completely balanced vs. his population but adopting a default game that exploits that population where possible while retreating back to balance where no such population read exists to allow for exploitative deviation.

Hey sorry to have missed your post. I'm not on streaming right now, but this is something I'll be setting up again when my book is available on kindle. I'm holding back a little on publicity pushes until I'm ready to sell on both PDF and epub.

I would like to compliment both the author and Mason for the discussion herein. I am a massive fan of 2+2 and the way this thread has evolved is the reason why.

Ironically as someone who used to fly in the military I am a legacy member of the world's largest aviation forum. I find it endlessly funny that a poker forum is more intelligent, more open-minded and hugely, hugely better moderated than a professional flying forum.

I'm not good enough yet to contribute to the Harrington debate (although I have all his books) but I'm working on it.

I would like to purchase the pdf version of the book, seems very promising!
But I see there's 21% BTW charged on top of the £39.99 (I'm from Belgium).
Is this logical? I don't understand why I have to pay more, since there's no shipping involved.

Applying VAT based on the location of the consumer is standard practice and mandated by EU directives. Prior to 1.1.2015 e-books were taxed based on the location of the supplier and so larger companies "supplied" e-books from Luxembourg, which of course meant the other countries lost out on the tax and smaller businesses couldn't compete.

I don't know how it works with the cross-border element but generally it makes sense for a small non-VAT-registered supplier to supply direct to a small non-VAT-registered consumer and not through a VAT-registered intermediary.

As Carroters presumably hasn't made 50K euro of VATable supplies then he should sell direct to his customers (at least in the UK, the cross-border thing requires more investigation).

Thanks for the response. The extra $12 doesn't matter that much, won't prevent me from purchasing the book obv.

The author mentioned that tweaks to the layout/formatting would be in future versions of the book. Is there any chance that purchasing the book now will give me access to revised versions (purely aesthetic changes) in the future, free of charge?

This book sounds like something I will gain much from, and will likely purchase it regardless of the answer to my question above.

Edit: Thanks to the author for spending time on here answering questions, and thanks to TDA for reviewing the book.

Hi there, yes absolutely. The distributor feeds me the email addresses of those who buy a copy of the PDF. Buy the first edition and get the 2nd edition sent out to your email when it's ready. Just get a hold of me at admin@carrotcorner.com when the 2nd edition is out and I'll send you an updated version.

Does the book give out good stats that you can kind of work from. Ie if ur a 6max or FR player does it show a rough guide as to what an average winning player per/vpip 3bt CB stats etc would be? Also I'm guessing it covers a basic starting hand selection for each position?

It does cover each position and gives a general guide to which hands should be opened (and provides a visual representation also), however the true strength is that it explains why we open certain hands, which helps you change your opening ranges dynamically. Not sure about the stats part yet, haven't gotten that far into the book.

There are many green stats boxes in the manual that go into full detail about how to interpet a stat. These boxes cover the stat's reliability after a certain amounts of hands, and also how to interpet various value bands in each stat. Every box shows what the average/solid value would be, but as has been remarked above, stats are far from the full picture. It's possible to have 'solid' stats and be a pretty awful player if decision making in some spot constitutes the "right" frequency C of doing X, but the player is doing X when he should be doing Y and vice versa. it's knowing why we do things that makes us better players and this is exactly what the book strives to achieve friom start till finish.

Thank you. Couldn't have said this better myself. Being able to select strategies dynamically is very important.
