I am a terrible poker player but I have a master's degree in statistics. Are there any good poker books that hit the ground running with theory without having to introduce probability fundamentals? (I recognize this is the diametric opposite of what most poker books do.)

Hi Tuee:

I have a similar education background to yours.

Since you say you're a terrible poker player I'll assume you haven't read much. Therefore, I would recommend The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky, The Theory of Poker Applied to No-Limit by David Sklansky, and most important relative to your request, Applications of No-Limit Hold 'em by Matt Janda.

Best wishes,
Mason
