There are enough regulars around on this board that I think following the precedent of many other boards that this forum should have a Low content thread for something that does not fit in one of are regular threads.......

Happy Holidays to one of my favorite boards on 2+2.

So this is for posts that have low content and not books that have low content?

In the Bond movie, Casino Royale (which was released in the last few years) they changed the original game of Baccarat to Hold'em.

This annoyed me to the nth degree as Hold'em was not being played in European casinos in the 1950s/60s when the book was written nor was it being played much outside the South (which I am reliably informed will rise again!).

Moreover, I think spooks would still probably prefer Baccarat to Hold'em.

CitizenLink needs to get banned any book that mentions gambling. Reading Casino Royale made me want to try the game. I have yet to play but I bought a book about the game.

Like all banking games, spread by the Casino it is -EV for the player but I think there is an essay somewhere (online or in print) that shows that advantage play is possible.

For those of you, whose interest has been piqued, here is a quickish introduction to the game and its variants.

I would like to introduce you all to the website www.pagat.com which in my opinion is the single most comprehensive source for card games on the Internet.

Probably do better if it had a 15-page preview.

I had been on a grinding tour to Stockholm . One of those hellish trips you know.

Where everything from piss drunk soccer supporters on the train to punks who steal your drugs as soon as you land kills your desire and where not even a little time in the bar with the Pirate can turn the mind from the coldness the hysterically laughter of the ever so cold deck now have created.

The original game was Chemin-de-Fer, which differs from Baccarat in as much as one player takes the bank and plays against the other players, with the house taking a 5% rake.
