I'm Barry Carter the co-author of this new book with professional poker player Dara O'Kearney.

The book takes a deep dive into ICM in MTTs and covers everything from bubble play, laddering, post flop, rebuy and registration strategies, final tables, deals and more.

Dara and I have previously cowritten Poker Satellite Strategy & PKO Poker Strategy. I have previously cowritten The Mental Game of Poker 1 &2.

Yeah I read all that but actually felt that this was the better place for it as long as the mods keep this subforum alive. You obviously get a better initial viewership on NVG but it gets pushed down by the usual Hellmuth/Postle LOLs and never seen again. At least book readers will see this.

One question is: How does this book differ from Short Stack Ninja?

Haven't read Ninja so I can only answer really based on the table of contents.

We do cover the shorter end of stack depths in quite a lot of detail in the 2nd part of the book, however the main part of the book is about understanding ICM holistically - we look at things like Bubble Factor, deal making, game selection, what to study, rebuy strategy, late reg strategy etc. Compared to our previous books this one more theory based and if we have done our job well you'll understand ICM in all situations, short stack or otherwise.

Ninja does look good though I always thought a book on 30BB play would be a good idea, glad to see somebody did it. I imagine there is a small amount of overlap with our practical sections at the end of the book.

Would you say your book makes Short Stack Ninja redundant?

Absolutely not, especially because I haven’t read it. As I said in my last post I think the core idea of a book concentrating on 30bb play is a brilliant idea. The few times I’ve read or seen the author on videos he seems really knowledgeable.

I just purchased the paperback version a moment ago.
I've got the other two books written by Dara too... haven't started them .. 'yet'
