Long Time Player - Bad at Math (Need Help!) Long Time Player - Bad at Math (Need Help!)

Hi all!

I've been playing live poker for a long time but I've been stuck at 1/2 NLH for years. I have good days and bad days. But I sometimes feel totally lost when I'm in a hand and would love to get a grasp of the proper "math play". Problem is: I hate math. Any books or resources I should look at to get a better footing on outs, pot odds, percentages and other math concepts for a guy that hates math?

My goal is to move up and be a winning player at 1/2 and 2/5 and be a solid tournament player. I am not looking to be a "poker pro".

TIA!

It looks like I found my book. Poker Math that Matters by Owen Gaines.

Excellent find. The author has a website where you can find discussion of the book.

Exactly. You will not find another book more precisely suited to you. It will require a bit of work and practice in order to be profitable, but it really is accessible to anybody. It also sets you up for his Hole Cards Confession, which is, in my opinion, even better. The latter book teaches you how to find spots that are ripe for exploitation while the former (PMTM) teaches you how to maximize in those spots.
