Hi all,

What do you think about this book from Hunter Cichy?

Does it still work in 2019?

I'm on nl2, wanting reaching at least nl10, Eu poker.

My current book is Harrington cash game, making me breakeven on nl2 and a lot of players tell me its non adapted to 2019 poker, since its too passive and fishy.

Thank you for any recommandation and advice.

I wasn't a fan of it myself. I like the Janda book better.

It puts on paper the Snowie preflop strategy that however is outdated now that we get the whole GTO preflop strategy in a software form. The rest (the other half) of the book deals with the live post-flop play where there is less bluffing. Other than that ABC-spirit overall, if playing live games, it didn't add major to my post-flop online play but I am a GTO-player.

It was educational but not sure what I still remember and my thinking is so GTO-math based that I would need to re-read it. Solid book, however.

I wanted it as something that might save me money in live NLH games and at live "mixed" games that might occasionally deal NLH. Not really a useful book for an online GTO-player. Probably worth the time for a relatively new live or a non-GTO player. But no revolution and less useful now that one can have the GTO strategy for preflop play.

FWIW Mason Malmuth reviewed this book and gave it a high rating. I can't remember which edition of the newsletter it was in but here is a link to the thread where he comments on the book:

Hi Friendly:

If the author or publisher wanted to put the chart up here, that would be fine. But given that there is a copyright involved, I don't think anyone else should do it.

Best wishes,
mason
