That Tony Korfman rant had its strengths when it wasn't insufferable. I'm not knocking it at all with that ... but giving it a good rating. Hell, I don't want his ghost coming back and knocking my butt out! Good book. Thumbs up. Should have got the Pulitzer.

I don't think this was its purpose, but The life and times of a gentleman gambler: "Oklahoma Johnny" Hale on poker & Las Vegas might fit this category. For some reason, I found this book more entertaining than I think it was supposed to be.

Whenever he makes a book recommendation, I have to add it to my wish list.

I am actually pretty impressed how Mason seems to find and recall some of the most obscure books on just about any aspect of poker even when they date back decades..

I am too.

I just wish he wasn't because my wishlist grows when he posts.

One last book. This one was called Fool-Proof; A Complete Training Program for ... Hold 'em Starting Hands by Richard Allen.

What makes this limit hold 'em book standout is that it came with a plastic Tic-Tac Box that was coded with how you should play your starting hands. I guess the idea was that you could take the Tic-Tac box with you, set it on the table in front of you, and all the information you needed for your starting hands would be there.

It came out in 1994 (and my Tic-Tac box is starting to show its age by turning a little yellow) and I wonder how many people today even heard of it though at the time, it got a fair amount of publicity with the author giving some seminars to promote his product.

Online Poker by Doyle Brunson is a funny book in that it is beyond terrible.

In terms of autobiographical poker books where an obscure author puts himself on the cover at a poker table, I can think of two others just like the Korfman book-
Pizza, Pasta and Poker: The Private and Public Life of a Professional Poker Player by Vince Burgio
Lessons from Las Vegas: Strategies that only the Poker Pros Use by Tony Gambone

A Rubber Band Story by Tommy Angelo

There's actually one more book that belongs in this list, perhaps more than any other book ever written. It was a short book of only 32 pages, originally came out in 1978, and on the front cover is titled An Obituary for the Public Professional Poker Player by Frank R. Wallace. But on the book's title page it's title is "How I Made Over $1,000,000 Playing Poker;" An Obituary for the Public Professional Poker Player by Frank R Wallace.

And for those who don't know, the "How I Made Over $1,000,000 Playing Poker" was the original title of Doyle Brundon's book Super/System. In other words, this short book is a discussion of how Brunson's book, then brand new, would ruin poker, and it also points out how mainly of the ideas in How I Made Over $1,000,000 Playing Poker are lacking when compared to Wallace's own work.

By the way, my favorite part of the book is the front cover. It has a picture of the author with a bag over his head so no one can identify who he is.
