I don't tend to frequent the poker forums so please forgive my newbie status.

A bricks and mortar casino local to me offers a bad beat jackpot which is funded from an additional rake. As the jackpot increases, the criteria required for triggering reduces. I know some online poker sites offer similar.

I was interested in discovering the actual odds of the jackpot being hit per hand. So having a bit of programming skill I set to work on a program which would answer the question. Losing with aces full of tens might not sound that unlikely, but what's the reality?

I am rather pleased with the program I've created and I thought I would offer to share it with my fellow players.

The program basically uses a RNG to generate random flop, turn, river and hole cards for a number of players and number of hands you specify. The bad beat criteria can be set between some common options, and you also have the facility to specify hole cards, so its possible to calculate which sort of hands have better probability.

I've included a screen shot below to give you an idea.

There doesn't seem to be any way of adding an attachment, but if you'd like to give the program a whirl just e-mail me and I'll ping you a copy across. Its a windows executable (written in an old version of visual basic). Your feedback on the program is welcome. Maybe an iphone / android version would be good?
