These volumes are holding top 2 positions in poker books on Amazon now. I wonder what these books will do to cash games.

Conventional wisdom is that many new players will buy the books and play, but that most won't even finish reading the books. Of those that actually read the books, most won't understand them. Of those that read and understand them, most will misapply the concepts at the table.

I hope this is true. Even since moving to 50NL I've been getting my butt kicked, and I'd like to start dishing out the beatings for a change.

I've heard some argue (mostly on places like this forum) that Harrington's tournament books "revolutionized" no-limit texas hold em tournaments. Along those same lines, I've heard predictions that the Harrington cash game books will "revolutionize" no-limit texas hold em cash games.

This is all fine and dandy, but can anyone point to any quantifiable evidence (or ANY evidence for that matter) that his tournament books "revolutionized" the tournament scene?

Nothing personal, but it just seems silly to me when people complain about the price of a book. The real cost is the opportunity cost of your time while reading/studying.... Just think of how much time and energy you will spend on covering the material. So unless you value your time at pennies/hour $35 for a book is nothing...

AFAIK the term "continuation bet" did not exist before HOH vol 1.

Sure the move existed. Doyle even talked about it in S/S 1. But Action Dan gave it a name, and now everyone does it.

I guess you could say who's won big & HAS read those books. Annette (Obrestad) claims those are the best books she's read of the few she HAS read. She's the WSOP Europe champ & consistent internet tourney winner. Urindanger also apparently read Harringtons book even as he was being berated by Kid Poker. Heck Jennifer Tilly read Harrington Lecters book & SHE won a tourney.

HOCG, better than NLHE-TAP by Sklansky?

Vastly different intent.

HOC will be a "game plan" book full of hows & whys. NLH:T&P was a theory book outlining the various dynamics at play in a wide variety of NL situations.

I look at HOC 1&2, PNL 1&2 and NLH:T&P as sort of a 5 volume set. You'll really need to read them all.

Mike,

I preordered my books from twoplustwo store about a week ago.

I'm currently in south korea, but wasn't able to have the books shipped out here because of the website (would not let me select a shipping option). So I assumed you did not ship worldwide. Instead I elected to ship them to my parents in canada, and have them ship to me. Any way to change this?

Are you sure? I was able to pick the option to ship to Hong Kong when I ordered from the 2p2 store.

I'm laughing...you'll toss in $50 on the river on a hand that you know has you beat...but you won't pay a few big blinds to perhaps learn how not to be a donkey? Knowledge is power my friends! Luck aside, the player with the most knowledge/experience will be he one winning consistently at your BnM cash game...I'll pay $100 for any book that I know will help improve my game.

You can't tell if this is priceless material yet. Even Einstein ran out of ideas eventually.

Its in there!

Best way to go is to cancel and refund your Canadian order and re-order.
Email or PM me with your order number and email address used when placing the order.
Thanks,
Mike

i did, but ther answer was rather meaningless... basically what they wrote was "if we have it at the FPP-store you will see it, but we don't know now, and thank you for your interest..."

doesn't look realy good...

That said, I'd happily pay a premium for hardcover but apparently I'm still dreaming...
Here in Norway the HOH books were released in hardcover - it certainly feels alot better than the "original" ones in English. If they do this with HOC too, I'll probably wait just to get my hands on that edition, athough I prefer reading in English.

Just pulled the trigger myself - funny how, once you do, your thoughts immediately go to the release date - March is coming fast!

That would be up to our Norwegian publisher. If they want to release the Harrington Cash Games books in Norway it's fine with us. But the decision to do so is theirs, not ours.

Best wishes,
Mason
