I'll trade you the interest for the credit card processing fees. Deal?

Erroneous logic there.

You have to pay those fees regardless of whether you bill before or at order fulfillment. It's just one of your many costs of doing business - the cost of being able to sell to customers who pay with credit cards. If you don't like the credit card fees, then you have the option of not accepting them but given the nature of your business that would probably be a huge mistake. I'm a business owner myself so you won't get me to play the violin for you just yet.

While I appreciate your intent to protect our credit card information, the fact remains that you're also reaping the benefit of a free loan in the process when you bill before fulfillment.

It's really not a big deal to me (I've already preordered the Harrington books), but I am a tiny bit suspicious that "the reason" you bill immediately at order and not at fulfillment is solely to protect our credit card information.

If you don't like their policies, shop somewhere else. You have plenty of options.

And why would you be 'suspicious'? Have you not read this forum before? A ton of people, including myself, have ordered from them and while I can't speak for everyone, I have only received top-notch service. Nothing to be suspicious about at all, ESPECIALLY since he answered your question about why they do what they do.

Jason,

Seeing as you are "suspicious" of my reply why do business with me? It may be a sign of how you do business but it is not how I do it.

I figure that folks can handle honesty even if the news is bad or someone at my office makes a mistake, and I deal with/fix whatever the problem is. Its a better policy than BS since it easy to sniff out the BS.

So since it is a big enough deal and concern for you to continue to write about it and question my honesty, I'll be happy to cancel and refund your order should you wish to call or email you order information. After doing the math, my cat will have to forgo the 1/2 can of cat food I could of bought with the .20 interest I might of made off your purchase.

Mike

i wonder the same thing. i see people on here ecstatic that it'll be two volumes. everything else equal, i'd much prefer one big volume.

having said that, harrington is great value. his books are not puffed up and/or have pages and pages of completely basic information you can get 20 other places.

without getting into other specific names, there are other series of books where i seriously question the need for a volume 2, 3 etc. publishers need to squeeze more content and more intermediate/advanced content into these books. ......

Even if it was 800+ pages long?

Jeez, guys, chill out. I only was pointing out that in addition to "protecting" our CC info, you also get a free loan due to the policy. It's not a big a deal to me, but apparently you and your cronies took it personally.

I've been buying 2+2 books online and B&M since ~2001 and am happy to continue to do so, even with this somewhat unusual policy of billing upfront for preorders. Enjoy the free loans.

First people are "threatening" to not buy the book unless $5 comes off the price, and now the big issue is a month or so worth of interest on $60?

This thread gets my vote for '2+2s least balla thread' of 2008.

why not? i've probably read 10 books over 1,000 pages. it's no big deal. 2p2 now has excellent binding. so it's feasible.... but as i said, harrington is the best author so i don't mind. i mean it's alot cheaper per page than bob ciaffone who is probably my second favorite authority. both ciaffone and harrington are dense with info, so no complaints.

I'd happily have paid more than $60 to have it all in a single hardcover volume.

Ok I got in late so I'm not even sure why people are mad, it's cheaper from 2+2 than amazon and you get it faster. Also I like 2 volumes instead of 1 big volume. If it was 1 big book idk either way tho, you guys are picky.

Just out of curiosity why are the shipping rates about double at twoplustwostore.com than at amazon.com? Amazon.com charges 3.99 per shipment plus 3.99 per book (total 11.97) to Europe and 2+2 store 23.46.

I mean, I will pay whatever I need to buy 2+2 books because they are great, but just wondered why the rates differ so much in relation.

I'm not sure we could print an 800 page book. Part of the problem is that the spine of the book would have to be much wider, and since we usually print 8 covers on a plate, there might not be room enough anymore since we already have a tight fit. There are other similar problems all through the process, especially with binding. Anyway, we're not going to find out.

Best wishes,
Mason

I do most of my reading in public transportation so I might be the only one here that likes the fact that it's released as 2 smaller books.

I have to admit that it's been a while since I anticipated a poker book that much.

I, too was a little uncomfortable that payment was taken so far in advance of actual shipping- just not the way I usually do business. I'm cool with the explanation, but I'd like there to be a notice on the order page that this is the case when making an order before the book is published. That'd solve it for me.

Never had a problem with an order and, I don't consider this to be one either. Really excited about the new release!

rather than ask why is the 2+2 store so expensive you should be asking why the Amazon.com store shipping is so cost effective. Its really out of 2+2's control.

very simple answer - volume. Overseas shipping rates tend to vary based on the shippers overall volume, a high volume shipper can use third party middle-men to cross the continents, and in turn reduce the costs greatly.

I just purchased a new computer from HP.com, they charged my credit card 10 days prior to the estimated shipping date. I think your right, I'm going to protest their policy by not using my new laptop when it arrives.

seriously though, the $.22 in interest is far offset by the discounted rates that the TwoPlusTwo store provides. If you don't like the policy then don't shop there... but protesting is ridiculous because the store is saving you money.

Wow, and all this before the books have even been published.

I love the Clint Eastwood pics.

Got me thinking about Clint Eastwood movie titles and how many of them would make half-decent titles for poker books.

* AWAY ALL BOATS
* A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS
* FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE
* COOGAN'S BLUFF
* THE ENFORCER
* EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE
* THE ROOKIE
* ABSOLUTE POWER
* MILLION DOLLAR BABY
* DIRTY HARRY ON CASH

OK, I made the last one up.
