Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

I'm still worried about how much thougher the games will become.
The reason is that mr Harrington is an excellent writer who can explain ideas wich are difficult to grasp in a way that is much easier understood.

Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

<<<beaver;I've heard some argue (mostly on places like this forum) that Harrington's tournament books "revolutionized" no-limit texas hold em tournaments. Along those same lines, I've heard predictions that the Harrington cash game books will "revolutionize" no-limit texas hold em cash games.

This is all fine and dandy, but can anyone point to any quantifiable evidence (or ANY evidence for that matter) that his tournament books "revolutionized" the tournament scene?>>>

Harrington has supplied a blueprint for one of several winning strategies.
while he discusses 3 types of players he mainly advises TA. the game only became "revolutionized" because his is the most sound, extensive and learnable road map thru a jungle where few have sprinkled bread crumbs before him AND THAT MAP IS FOLLOWED BY MANY. it is the convergance
on his strategy that has changed the game.

this is actually a really good point. so much for revolutionizing the game.

truth is i haven't noticed a substantial increase in difficulty in any level of MTTs in any form (live, online). i haven't even seen any evidence of the notion that HOH1-3 (or maybe just 1-2?) created a whole mess of TAGs. no matter where i go or what level i play, there are always plenty of crazy players, and never, NEVER a shortage of baaaaaad players.

i hope the HOC books don't make no limit cash games any tougher, but i'm not too concerned. i probably see worse play at cash games than in tournaments.

i do occasionally, however, hear people in tournaments mutter things about "M-factors" and what not. i certainly didn't hear that before HOH.

I'm really surprised at this.
I dont really play tournaments so have no first hand experience, or knowledge of how well people played before and after the release of the HOH books...
However, a lot of the articles i read (or podcast interviews) say that tournaments have gotten harder and that a big factor in that is the HOH books.

What level of MTT's do you play in online and live? Could it be that the better read players play in a different tournement to you?

Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

Hi Mason!

Just a question. Has 2+2 any orderings from the FPP-Shop from pokerstars concerning the HOC-books? Because if yes, I'd wait till it is possible to get the books from them with my points. If not I'd rather buy at 2+2-store (what are the costs for a delivery to austria?) or amazon.de.

Thanks for the Information and greetings!

I have mentioned this in the past but its worth repeating. HOH has been around several years now. The boom is several years old.
I play occassionally in a weekend donkfest. These guys have been together for over two to three years now. theres around 30 in the group.
Ok heres the kicker. NONE of them heard of HOH. NONE of them know of David Slkansky.
In this big crazy craze for holdem over the years nobody took the time in this group to study up. They`re all TV educated and take horrendous beats in their mind each week to get knocked out. We got the hoodies, cool glasses, chip tricks, the whole smeel.
This is not made up. I brought in HOH and TOP to show a player the books because he had an interest in improving and the books were shown to most everyone and they were clueless to these texts. I think one person heard of Harrington from the WSOP main event. (of course)
Theres still plenty of money out there.

Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

I got an email today from Amazon.com stating that they are releasing vol 2 on march 14 and can preorder now.
Trouble is I bought from amazon.ca and cost me $21.48 each. Still flabbergasted by this price. UNBELEIVABLE....
lets see how long the wait is for us canucks.

Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

Mason tells me that I should have them around March 14-15th, If this holds up we'll be packing all that weekend and get them in the mail on Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th. This info is only valid if the printer sticks to the current schedule and is subject to change.

Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

well you probably don't play uNL like I do either, and I'd rather have my fellow struggling players keep on struggling instead of looking for ways to improve their play - I believe 2+2 NL books can be very valuable for a novice/intermediate player if applied correctly

If I preordered the books from the 2+2 store today, would they still be sent out with the initial shipment?

We are going to try to get all the pre-release orders out the door within 2-3 business days of arrivial and in the order that they were placed.

Myturn2raise Your statement makes very little sense . The latest releases are far from just average to good. I do agree however that your statement is true in the sense that perhaps 2-5% of the readers will benefit from studious study and application . So yes I too am "not quaking in fear". Most who benefit will be from our community at 2+2 because we take the game more serious.
We all here would appreciate if you could post an article on an advanced concept relating to NL and we`ll critique your wealth of knowledge.

Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

Sigh.

I keep getting a message that says: There's an error with this transaction. Please enter a country in the shipping address.

I did enter a country and it is showing up in the shipping address.

I'm slightly annoyed as I had to go through and enter all of my information twice now.

As a side note, on the order confirmation page it says Expiration Data (for the credit card) instead of Expiration Date.

But please let me know if this gets fixed (the first problem).

Re: Harringtons cash books -pre order.

Despite the above, I guess my purchase did end up going through somehow.

I didn't get my ~$3 discount from the HOC22 code. I was trying to be careful to put the code in each time I had to try to go back to edit but maybe I missed it on the last time or perhaps the code is expired now?

Overall it was a pretty bad experience for me and I will likely be using a different merchant in the future.
