I couldn't care less about the cover. No small thing coming from someone with 20+ years of employment in the graphics industry (working for a quick printer, a service bureau, a graphic design firm, and now a large-format reprographer).

It's the quality of the writing (coming from Dan H, almost certainly excellent) and the editing that's important. I'm hoping that the editing is better than that seen in some other 2+2 books.

My guess is that it's just a mistake from amazon.ca. Good thing is that THEY (not 2+2) will cover the difference since amazon is offering the price guarantee.

That is a good deal for those with patience to wait the extra at least 3 weeks for delivery.

oook. I guess they perfected the Star Trek transporter to receive their stock.

Actually that may be true for books like Harry Potter where they ship them to distribution centers in advance of the official release date but its not the case with books that release when the print run is done.

Shouldn't the king on the cover at least be wearing a green Red Sox hat?

I will read the books, but I won't expect them to do for cash games what HoH did for tournaments.

Ya I have always had excellent results with all my purchased delivery dates.
But my gut tells me Mike might be right this time.
Amazon.ca states the 4th of march so if the books are printed before said date I might get them as stated by amazon.
The wait will not be pleasant once the 2+2 buyers have theirs in hand.

Bottom line though, I'll buy the book and can't wait to read it

I like the covers very different from other 2+2 books.

Very surprised not to see a picture of Dan on the cover!

Mike probably has this right. We can't ship the books to buyers like Amazon until we get them. But the Two Plus Two store gets them the same day we get them. My guess is that Amazon doesn't have them to ship to customers for at least a week, the major book stores won't have them on their shelves for 10 days or more, and Amazon.Ca could be as much as three weeks.

Also, keep in mind that our current publication date is our best estimate. As soon as we have the books from the printer, that's the day they are released.

Best wishes,
Mason

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for clearing that out. So basically I'm stuck with the choice of cheaper vs earlier... tough one

Exchange rate is pretty sick right now. US$10 for a pint in the local pub almost made my trip there unaffordable last June. My kid had to skip a meal or 2

Bummer that my favorite airline, Maxjet went bankrupt. All better than business class non-stop from Vegas to London. 16 rows in a 767.

i quite like the cover, sort of 70s 'how to play bridge'-ish. but yeah, could do without the gratuitous photo of a stack of chips.

It has become part of the official 2+2 "look" and will be on all covers. You could learn to love it...

Hmmm, a strategic decision? I'm sure the 2+2 brand plays above its weight in terms of value already, but, I don't know, I guess a random stack of chips could help!

Haha yeah, if you're from the states you're essentially paying 2x for everything in the UK! For a tourist it's expensive as hell. (fwiw I usually pay around $6 for a pint but then again I don't visit high-stakes balla joints)

BTW, I just ordered Elements of Poker too, was wondering how long does First-Class Mail International shipping usually take?

If I had an arch-enemy, it would be that stack of chips.

I don't think anyone actually puts them there, I think they just kind of appear and everyone assumes someone else threw them on.
