hey guys, i was surfing on the internet for business ideas from poker players, and i ran into this ebook, but i can't find any comments or review.... did anybody read this book? can you suggest me if is worth the money? here is the summary from the site :
Learn how to invest your poker winnings

Many young poker players were lucky and skillful enough to accumulate a large amount of money in their 20s. Unfortunately, most don’t know how to manage their money and end up broke. Don’t let that be you.

This is an ebook I wish was available when I was 21 years-old making six figures a year playing poker. It would’ve saved me a lot of stress and a lot of money.

In this ebook, I will go over common leaks that prevent successful poker players from reaching their financial goals. It has nothing to do with high IQs and more with simple investing theory.

You will also learn:

1. How to manage your stock portfolio and beat 90% of professional money managers out there

2. How to build passive income with ETFs

3. How to negotiate when buying a car and get the lowest price. You don’t even have to show up to a car dealership

4. How to determine on whether buying a house is a good decision for you. Most buy for the wrong reasons.

5. How to end up with a $10M+ nest egg by the time you retire

6. And much more ...

Start building your wealth today.

The concept is fine. But why not get a real financial professional's book? I wouldn't buy a poker book written by a stock guy (even Einhorn). Why would you buy an investment book from a poker guy?

IDK, I just dont like ETFs and I think a poker player would have more luck placing Put options or buying lower risk muni-bonds for passive income. (In other words, doing even more work or doing even less work would be better IMHO)

In short, I wouldn't buy it.

The book was okay.

If your totally clueless about finance/investing its good.

The knowledge is very basic and feels like it was written in a week.

I was able to take away some things from it however but most if the information can be found on Google for free.

Nothing special. Frankly Anthony Robbins new book MONEY Master the Game: 7 Simple Steps to Financial Freedom is much better.

So pretty much any poker player, right? Which I believe IS the audience for this book.

So? Mozart wrote entire pieces of music in a week; are you claiming he's a hack, too?

WRONG! I call BULL****.

"googling" ain't free; and COMPLETELY IGNORES THE FACT THAT YOU CAN'T KNOW GOOD INFO FROM BAD WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT.

The fact that you said "google it" (essentially) destroys ALL credibility.

Ii believe he runs a hedge fund (may be a standard fund). Oh and hedge funds are hiring poker pros to trade for them, soooo…

Because people can't be successful at more than one thing? That's silly.

And again, I believe Tri runs a hedge fund.

Oh, would you buy a poker book from Bobby Baldwin? Why he's a casino operator! You don't know who he is? Guess we know your level of poker understanding.

BTW should we only buy poker math books from poker players? Poor mathematicians they don't get any respect.

And we now know you are clueless. "[L]uck?" really? What's next throwing darts at list of stocks?

ETF's allow you to be less active in your investing. Options, and futures require far more active role, than ETFs. You should know that before advising people about them.

"muni bonds?" for "passive income?" Are you deranged? That's treading water, at best. If you're lucky you're keeping up with inflation. THAT IS NOT INCOME. Wow, truly bad advice.

And why are you saying you want less work for lower risk; when you adivsed…not more than one paragraph ago…TO DO MORE WORK FOR HIGHER RISK?

Yea, I think we know not to take this advice.

Wait, you didn't buy it? Then how do you know what's in it?

HIGHLY doubtful. Tony Robbins has pushing his hokum for decades; and it's useless.

I think my book in 2011 was the first to talk about the importance of investing to secure your future as a professional poker player.

The SlowHabit finance book looks fine just from the look of it, as a fairly standard invest in index funds to outperform your competition type book. But there are some additional complexities that come in when your job is professional poker. Ideally you should consider the fact that your labour income is risky, and aim to diversify away from poker-risk with your investments.

Of course lots of famous poker pros do the opposite by investing in poker businesses!

way too promotional.

if i take $100k of my own money and invest in high yield bonds and make 6.5% per year - so $6500- is that really passive income? i'm thinking that's money i need for my retirement.... i find there's big confusion between retirement savings and business use of your own $$$$. you generally can't do both WITHOUT the next comment

i was thinking real "passive income" is someone lending you a fair bit of money and you buy vending machines, laundromat or some kind of income producing real estate.. there someone else is putting up the money. get rich off OPM. seems like real estate has been great area for that.

what's his basic strategy?

also vis-a-vis some replies here.

ETFs are great.... and they pretty cover the waterfront. so whatever you want.

i like tony robbins and his financial book... but how much of his and ray dalio's basic strategy is premised on government's bond's amazing 30+ year mega-bull market.
