Advanced Players Series Still Relevant for Today? Advanced Players Series Still Relevant for Today?

I have been working very hard with Seven Card Stud and Stud Hi-Lo since only playing Texas Hold'em (both Limit and No-Limit) can be boring after awhile. It helps to keep things fresh with learning and playing other games of course. I have received a copy of Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players and thought to perhaps use it to further my game. So of course the question I ask for all of you is that are the Advanced Players books good to use in today's games?

With sincerity...

Think 7CS4AP is still the ultimate play book to beat anything up to 30/60 live and probably the weaker 75/150 lineups imo

Stud lineups have changed only slightly throughout the years. Plus I feel that good books are always relevant as they teach you how to properly think about situations. And this is a great book, 3rd street discussion is tremendous

Thank you, how would you feel about Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players or even High-Low Split Poker for Advanced Players? My thing is that I am trying to find a most appropriate book to improve my limit hold'em game and the same goes for Stud Hi-Lo and Omaha Hi-Lo. I thought maybe the advanced series can help me out. 7CS4AP has definitely helped me out with making decisions on third street so I am really pleased of course.

I think the Stud Hi Lo stuff is good and offers some things to think about. Ted Forrests chapter in Full Tilt tournament book is best resource on the game though imo

The O8 chapter was ok, just didn't seem to have a lot of meat on the bone.

I hardly ever play limit Holdem, but I'm sure anyone hanging out in mid stakes forum would probably say you would get run over. But that forum is a clown show imo.

If you play Razz pick up Sklansky on Poker

I'm no expert, but I liked Philip Newall's books for limit hold'em.

Any resources on how to beat your typical 1/2 stud game at commerce?

$25 ante and bringin?

7CSFAP has a few pages of commentary that discusses some strategy for that specific structure

But other than that probably no, just like all other higher limit games
