Hello David,

Why should we buy this book?

I have Harrington and it's about the best NL book I've ever read. What makes your book worth the asking price?

(Thanks for all the titles you've written before; and which I've loved!)

One of the books you loved didn't fully love you back. Not if your main game is no limit or pot limit. This one does in a way that even Dan Hartrington's books do not.

Hi David

I have ordered the book and am looking forward to reading it. I wanted to ask what you think the biggest changes in poker are since your early books and if you play/approach poker differently as a result.

Thanks Billy.

The short answer is that poker has moved from mainly art to mainly science. But this thread was created specifically for those who have read the book to comment or ask questions about its content and for others to perhaps weigh in on them. For a lengthier answer of your question or other questions not directly related to TOPATNL you'll have to wait for my Ask Me Anything Thread after I finish my tell almost all book recounting my various exploits.

Hi David,
I have your Theory of Poker and the joint work No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice. I've read and used the concepts in No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice many times, what a wonderful, powerful book. How does this new book fit in within these? Is it a blend of the two?

p.s. Thank you both for all the work you and Mason have done, I wouldn't be where am I in poker w/o your works.

1. Do you still get a considerable amount of your income from poker.
2. What is the main game you play.
3. What is your NL holdem winrate. Live and online.

I will probably read the book if the reviews are good. But I was just wondering if Sklansky even plays poker anymore. We haven't heard anything from him in years and the NL book he did with Ed Miller was disappointing.

Hi skill:

David and I decided that we wanted to keep the questions in this thread related to the contents of this book only. Please see my opening post.

Best wishes,
Mason

Which Harrington book are you referring to?

A lot of books, while brilliant in content, have very little that can be applied to 1/2 due to the nature of the game. Is this book worth the investment for someone who plays in games with primarily level one thinkers?

Is there an ETA on when it will be released in electronic format? Thanks in advance.

As with the original TOP this book shows you how to analyze the various situations you may find yourself in playing no limit or pot limit poker. That of course includes the simpler situations where the opponents are first level thinkers.

My copy arrived yesterday and I took today off from the grind to read it; I have traditionally been able to read other books in this price range in one day ( The Course, How to Read Hands). I had forgotten just how in-dapth and thorough 2+2 books are, especially when David Sklansky is the author. Thank you so very much for this new version of the classic but I must say, one day was not enough. One week maybe, but this book will soon be tattered and frayed with highlights and notes throughout. Thank you so very much gentlemen. This one is a keeper.

Hi- i just wanted to mention that at least on my computer and ipad, the link to this thread that is at the bottom of the notice appearing on each forum page goes to "page not found".

Hi Everyone:

For those who have been asking about when the kindle will be available, it looks like we're still a few days off.

We reviewed the kindle today and the equations were too small, and since they're an image as opposed to text, they could not be resized. So, we have sent it back to our kindle maker. However, we expect this to be an easy fix and hope to see it again very soon.

Best wishes,
Mason

Thank-you, and we got it fixed.

I actually ordered the book via Amazon (1-day delivery) arriving today. Would have preferred a Kindle version, but wanted something to read on my upcoming flights (tomorrow). Would there be a way to get a copy of Kindle without paying the same fee as I will have the paperback version as well. Just asking

This is one of the best no-limit books I have purchased and I have purchased too many of them. As Theory of Poker did for me, this book has offered insight into areas I had never considered. I have finished the book in its’ entirety but now am rereading in a chapter by chapter study. I highlight, make notes and then realize this book is the epitome of you don’t know what you don’t know. I think Dan Harrington’s two books are the gold standard for introductory books for no-limit, Theory Applied is my new gold standard for an in-depth review of all the topics touched upon by Mr. Harrington. The thoroughness and depth of material is honestly very easy to overlook. It also has lead me to purchase one of the few 2+2 books I passed upon, DUCY. I see many people asking questions like will this help my 1-2 or my online game; the answer is a resounding yes! If you are playing no-limit Texas hold-em, this book will pay for itself immediately. If you are looking to be spoon fed an ABC strategy, nope not for you; however, if you want to learn how to think about this game don’t hesitate. Just buy it. You have to put in the work, you have to think a little bit if you are willing to do that then this book is going to open you up to know what you don’t know. 10/10 in my humble opinion. I was a big fan of NLHTAP, this book is my 2019 replacement or maybe just addition to Theory and Practice. Either way, can’t reccomend it enough.

Are there any of your books that are a primer and should be read before this one?
