I'm not, i'm actually very far from it.

However. I would like to invest into some beginner cash game books / training sites, to freshen up on all the ABC fundamentals.

What do you guys recommend?

Crush Live Poker by Bart Hanson and Red Chip Poker are two of my favorite sites for live poker. Both are excellent and have solid content.

Agreed, Crush Live Poker is by far the best training site out there, Red Chip is a the second best. You can’t go wrong with either of these.

You stated these are the best training sites out there for live CASH games....

Do you recommend them for live tournaments as well, or are they strictly cash game sites?

I only play cash games so I honestly have never given much attention to the tournament content on either site. I do believe Red Chip has some tournament content and CLP definitely has some tournament content; however, my only familiarity is with the cash game content. Due to the excellent content on cash games I would expect the tournament content to be of the same quality but cannot be sure.

Mr. Jones,
As far as beginner books go for cash games 2+2 has some excellent books to begin your journey. No Limit Hold em Theory and Practice is excellent, so is Professional No Limit Hold em. You can’t go wrong with Dan Harrington’s 2 book series on cash games, I think they were superb. I have heard some people say they are dated but I disagree, especially for beginners or people wanting to brush up on the fundamentals. The Course by Ed Miller is a great read as well as his two books Playing the Player and How to Read Hands. I found these three Miller books to be very good; however, they are a bit pricey for as short of a read as they were. The Theory of Poker Applied to NLHE is coming out in the next few days. I cannot tell you if it will be good or not, but I would lay some pretty good odds it is going to be excellent. David Sklansky never lets me down and The Theory of Poker was mind blowing when I first read it. I have pre-ordered it and will be waiting at the mailbox the day it arrives.
Hope this helps.

Both sites do have coverage for tournaments as well especially Red Chip. I think either or both sites will be great for any player. Both sites have a lot of content and you can geek out on it for a long time.
