hoping to start a list of books that go through many different poker games in various levels of detail:

the 2 first obvious ones are SS and SS2........

i am just re-ordering amarilo slim and susie isaacs (suzie?)

did PS or full tilt do such a book?

there are 2 mixed games books i know of and people speak relatively highly of them.

to start with, i really like the idea of amarilo slim's book. 10 pages of reflections of each game to give u a flavor of the game

i am trying to learn stud, stud-8, razz and any other low only games. maybe brush up on O8 too... i have DS and Ray Zee books on stud and high-low. they are good

thanks in advance

The Amarillo Slim book is a poor man's version of The Education Of A Poker Player (1957) by Herbert O. Yardley. Though, I do have a fondness for it myself. Yardley looked at a number of games including deuces wild, 5stud, 7stud and lowball (NB: no hold'em or any other of the modern games). Indeed, the structure of Amarillo Slim's book follows the template set out in Yardley's. Yardley's book is also an acknowledged literary classic.

The Full Tilt Poker Strategy Guide is rated 10/10 by Mason Malmuth IIRC and covers all the games you mentioned but in their tournament formats. It was edited by Michael Craig but a host of poker stars contributed to it including Howard Lederer to name only one.

Hi river:

The best book on razz is Sklansky on Razz which is contained in its entirety in the book Sklansky on Poker.

Best wishes,
Mason

thanks to both posters.. i really appreciate it....

i vaguely remembered FTP doing that book. tournament is fine as that's what i'm interested in. but it would probably be fine for cash games too if needed. i think i can interpret/adjust the content.

FYI, my interest is in playing a bunch of non-holdem WSOP tourneys if the virus ever subsides.......... i feel holdem tourneys are too large and the games are fairly efficient. these other tourneys are small and i'm guessing lots of people don't know that games that well. high-low is not simple. and low only gets so little attention anywhere. the fish improved their holdem games from watching TV .

suzie isaacs book is actually very good.....

i'm sure if you go through all 1,000 tips there's alot to nit-pick. and it seems like it runs the gambit from staying hydrated to sophisticated hi-low plays.

basically, i think her book captures the essences of the different poker variants and outlines the do's and don't's of each.........
