Ed Miller explain concepts very well.
1. Getting Started in Hold 'em (Ed Miller) simple introduction and fundamentals.
2. Professional No-Limit Hold 'em: Volume I more advanced but easy to follow and apply in real games.

i would say some of the books mentioned are good. ed miller and sklansky book

just bear in mind 3 things,

1) tourneys play way different than any kind of cash games. especially as you get shorter stacked and towards the end of a tourney

2) limit is very different from no-limit.

3) most poker is much much tighter than when miller/sklansky book and even most of harrington's books were published.

but just to learn basic things, a limit poker book is very good..... hand value (different than hand rankings but correlated), pot odds, implied odds etc. etc... things like that. a basic limit book is good

#1 is probably good.

#2 if i remember correctly revolves around one idea (bet sizing properly through the hand)....... it i think assumes you know the very basics already. it may go through the basics but it's quite perfunctory
