Best of the Ed Miller books?

I wanted to buy Ed's last 4 books. They are very expensive though. It's between 40 and 45 bucks for each one on amazon (i don't know why). My question is, if i'm just going to buy one now which one should i get? Poker's 1%?

depends what you want to read about

as 1% is just a beginners guide to GTO - so probably useless for you if you are playing live low stakes

Ed has said that Poker's 1% is not a GTO book. A lot of people say that about his book.

As for which one you should get, why not just pick the one that you think will help you the most? Just from the titles alone you should be able to have a decent idea of what they cover.

the good news is that i think there is alot of repetition in the books

either the course and/or how to read hands should be fine. EDIT: i forgot about moving beyond ABC poker...

basicially "the course" and/or "how to read"... avoid his more gimmicky titles - they are basically one-trick pony's that don't cover very many real situations... i would generally also avoid his co-authored books and/or focus on his later more comprehensive books.

great advice yeah i got the one with Doug Hull coming since it was only 13 bucks. I honestly don't know why he set the price so high for the other four. 45 bucks for a kindle version? that's crazy

I think The Course is the best of the 4, although it doesn't really take you from 1-2 NLHE to 10-20. I think it is best for 1-2. 1% is difficult to put in practice. It does contain elements of GTO and tells you where to find more, but for all but high stakes players, you should be trying to find exploitative strategies.

i like this one...... pretty unique info i found. and very detailed as to flop and beyond.

course is good too. but a little generic like many books.

can only read so many times about being tight pre-flop, paying special attention to position and suitedness, pairs have great implied odds etc. etc... that's like almost every book i've ever read.. my scan of course seemed to suggest it was like that. i could be wrong though.

"how to read hands" seemed very good at grey areas which is pretty much every poker hand when you play against semi-decent or better players.

If you play live $1-2 no-limit I would suggest this order:

1. The Course
2. Playing the Player
3. How to Read Hands
4. Pokers 1%

In fact, in The Course Miller recommends reading the remaining 3 books in that order.
