Finished reading it two nights ago. Some insight into Barry, but also a scatterbrain feel to it. Jumped from topic to topic really quick sometimes. Definitely auto-bio, my journey, my mistakes etc, mix in zen feelings, how to live, act, still not a poker guide or a how-to. As neither a professional gambler or poker pro, much of the 'life's learnings' felt flat, obvious, funny (not in a good way) or sad. A chapter on money management from a seasoned pro who's gone busto before? Dedicating the book to his kids, kids in general with a gambler for a parent(s)?

Before 'Ace on the River', I knew Barry only as one of the regular rotation of players on HSP. Quiet, tight, respectful, respected. After reading the book, nothing much has changed in that regard. Your mileage may vary.

fo sho, I highly recommend the audio version. when I was up and coming player, I listened to it like 20+ times. It's timeless, and it really does take ridiculous repetition to internalize many of the lessons and wisdom...
