what's with the Puggy Neutron trolling? Is this some new meme/level I missed out on?

I have read and reread this book 4 times it is a very good book for small stakes live no-limit. It is a great book to plug your leaks at 1-2 & 1-3 & 2-3. It is a easy read and easy to understand but spot on for live cash game players. I highly recommend it.

Very good book IMO directed specifically to the 1/2 NLH live ring game (even outside the Red Rock). I read and re-read Dynamic Full Ring Poker and was unable to apply the concepts/advice to the 1/2 live game to save my soul. Maybe I just require some ABC type advice.

On the 21st I had the pleasure of sitting next to Steve when I was visiting Vegas. I Told told him I had read his book and also bought them as gifts for Friends who play 1-2 in Reno. He was great to talk poker theory with for a few hours. he is very much a student of the game and it's player type's and how to beat them, and he did a good job of it while we were talking. I have played poker for 46 years and I am sure that this is by far the best LLNL book That has been written. I have read over 40 poker books so I do have something to compare it to. If you are a loser a small winner a rec. player or even a moderate winner this book will make you money. PERIOD

I guess I will give it another read. Won $835 2 weeks ago, lost $955 last week all while playing 1/2. The swings (tilt) are killing me. Actually did like it when I first read it. Thanks for the input.

I just started a new thread for his new book 'Donkey Poker'. Took a glimpse on Amazon and I may just get it based on how good his first book is.

I think this is a good book and a pretty easy read but it didn't really help me much. If you've moved beyond ABC poker then the book won't be nearly as helpful to you. If on the other hand you're struggling to beat 1-2 then you certainly can't go wrong with this book and it should be very helpful to you.

I'm curious what the next book will cover.

I forget who said it on here, but good lord....this book could have been 50 pages. I have lost count on how many times the author states that "Donks don't pay attention to position" or "Rarely just call; fold or raise" Still agood read, but I find myself breezing through it.

To the readers of this book:

How applicable to you believe this to be to 2-5? Every hand example is from 1-2 and appears to be pretty spot on. I have less experience at the 2-5 stakes, but feel like the play would be more similar than not?

Thoughts?

2-5 is generally a different game - some of the concepts would apply if you are playing with donks.. but the donks as described by Selbrede are generally in the 1-2 and 1-3 game.

Depends on the scenarios.

In general, there are more calling donks in 1/2 than 2/5 and higher. Higher game usually have more spewing donks.

There are a lot of great books and resources more geared for 2-5 so I would take this book for what it is designed for.. 1/2.

I read this book, kindle. It was average at best.

If you don't know anything, like Zero, I would say its a good starting tool. However he gets into the math aspect VPIP/PFR, comparing online to live stats, way too much imho.

Alot of concepts repeat themselves. If your 2/5 player you do not need to read this book

Yeah...I am currently getting back in the saddle re: poker. I used to play a bunch but life responsibilities prevented that for the last five years. I have no access to online as I live in PA, so casinos are my only way to play. I am barely bankrolled for 1/2 so I am kinda starting over. I am employing a 95% study/ 5% play mix right now trying to get my ducks in a row. I agree much of what I am reading is review, but it helps to drill it into your head as a foundation for live games. I was never rolled for 2/5 so I have limited experience and didn't know how close the games were...at least in the context of Selbrede's writings.

Seriously...did the editors even look at the hand examples before publishing this book. Most errors are inconsequential, but there is actually an argument made for a villain winning a hand he shouldn't have on page 127. They have AJ of spades beating QQ on a board of QJ92T rainbow.

Finished this. Basic, but a good refresher for low limit live.

Played 1/2 for the first time since reading this book. "Card dead" doesn't begin to describe my session and this book definitely saved me money.

FWIW, a lot of free materials could help you with not bleeding money in 1/2.
