Considering purchasing "Mastering Small Stakes Pot-Limit Omaha: How to Crush Modern PLO Games" by Jnandez, any feedback would be appreciated

I haven't read the book but saying "It's excellent" or "It's junk" isn't particularly useful. It says nothing of the content - the most important part of any review - or even why it is good or bad.

You can read what the contents cover. It is basically an advanced book - small stakes because it isn't more detailed.

The preflop strategy is the best stuff I have read from a PLO book. It isn't fully detailed, so not a reference book for complete preflop strategy, but that's about it, and it would need its own book.

Splashing the chips, you better understand the ranges in full that they are directed against. This book gives some exploitative tips.

Post-flop, there are stuff to learn even if you already have a working technique. You can add some right away but most take time. The less you know, the more you obviously will learn.

I use mainly a pretty fixed bet amount based on flop and board, so I often differ there and not going to change its bases. My biggest exception to that is when I am mixed (or committing) - it comes down to the same concepts but thought out differently. I have no major issues here. I don't usually consider the lesser blockers on the flop.

It seemed, post-flop, I do some 2/3rd basically more or less the same, and the rest, I don't know, and mostly impossible to fit into my 1, 2, 3 (and some more) levels of technique - originating (1 and 2) from NLH.

Thanks Pucmo. Yours is the best review I have read out there. I will buy it for the preflop content then.

I asked someone who worked on publishing JNANDEZ book how good it was and he told me it is very elementary basically telling me to save my money. But I have played plo professionally for over two years so I’m sure it’s great for someone less experienced.

You can view an extended pdf extract on d and b poker's (the publisher) website. It is much more comprehensive than that available on amazon.

I actually really dislike the preflop section a lot.

I find the preflop section very vague. There are no preflop ranges at all not even as a reference point. This section is not very beginner friendly at all and needs a lot more examples. Asking beginners to basically construct their own preflop hand range from a % and some vague criteria is a big ask. It’s more for players that have already sort of established their preflop ranges and could benefit from some adjustment.

Also, this book discusses ONLY 6-max. So if you play full 9 player this book may not even be for you. There is no mention of that anywhere so I want to mention it here buyer beware.

I’m still working my way through the book but I’m losing confidence in it.

Thank God for some honesty. I was afraid that this would turn into a JNandez circle-jerk. Guess Habegger gave up on promoting his shitty book.

In two words, it's trash.

Here's why.

WHAT FOLLOWS IS SPECULATION, I HAVE NO DIRECT KNOWLEDGE OF ACTUAL EVENTS AND HAVE FABRICATED THE NEXT PARAGRAPH

The majority of the book is stolen from a much more talented player than JNandez. Someone was commissioned to solve game theory PLO spots, handed them over to Habegger, and Habegger never paid. Sounds familiar right? In case you're new, I'll explain. Jnandez has a history of ignoring contracts and disregarding agreements. See Doug Polk's video about JNandez stiffing their contract, it may be on JoeIngram1's YouTube channel, but I'm too drunk to look it up. And don't forget about the "Scarf" fiasco! Was that ever a trip. If it hasn't been scrubbed from 2+2, it's worth a read! And check out the Amazon reviews! Out of a total of 39 "reviews" only 6 ... SIX ... people actually wrote something. Smells fishy to me, but don't take my word for it! https://www.reddit.com/r/poker/comme...y_we_left_the/
