While it's certainly a nice cover, it's also probably to close to what we used on the Fenney book to consider using it. However, we do look forward to seeing any additional entries that you'll roll out.

Really love this submission! Much better without the card suit overlays, got a little busy. From a personal preference most likely I think it would look better without the overlays on the spine of the book as well.

That being said, if I saw this on a book shelf I'd at least pick it up and see what the content was like. Nice one!

Appreciate the feedback Doc. Here's another version. I also put a border around the king, didn't look right how it was cut off. I think I'm color blind after trying so many color schemes. If the design is chosen that's something that can be fine tuned. For now I think I'm going to move on to another concept.

I'd have guessed about the planets and the background spade being stock compared to the rest of the layout (w/ blurry text and all), but just jacking your back cover thing like that in the same thread too... looking forward to 2nd attempt.

Side note: I like the chip thing on the back cover idea, for some reason I never even considered that. Perhaps before I die Mason will tell me what the significance of that chip pile is. If it's got to be on the book, the back cover as you have it makes so much more sense.

It's got to go somewhere, and to be fair I don't remember anyone explicitly saying it had to be on the front (I always just assumed it because that's where it would get stuck on the early ones by the shop). Either way it's executed pretty well with the spotlight/shadow and doesn't seem like it was shoehorned in. Looks very clean.

Part of the problem with that image is that it's not a good fit on lighter backgrounds as is, imo.

I think the playing cards already serve that purpose. From a design standpoint, I've always felt the chips look out of place.
