there's a live mtt i play with around 20 players. No rake and $20 buyin. blinds start at 100/200 and everyone starts with 18,000 chips. You can either do 1 rebuy if you lose all your chips or 1 add-on if you haven't rebrought at the first break. 20 min blinds. no antes.

blinds go up like this

100/200
200/400
300/600
Break
400/800
500/1000

and so on.

tourny goes for about 4 hours.

is this tourny worth playing?

If you are better than the opposition, then yes. If you are not, no, structures are the same for everyone, adapt

"Worth playing" in what sense exactly?

If there's no rake at all, then it sounds pretty good. A lot of low stakes donkaments have such high rake that it can hard to crush them even when your opponents are terrible.

You should look at the payout structure, btw. If only 3 or 4 people are getting ITM, it will be pretty frustrating to bubble it if you have to play for three and half hours first.

WHat are the soft costs to play(i.e. are you expected to buy food or drink that you would not have bought otherwise? Is it a long drive? etc.)

You aren't going to win a lot (first place is likely between $120 and $150), and no rake tournaments likely are less well run. But if you enjoy it, go for it.

first price is around $300-$400. 20 buyins + 20 addons at 20 a piece = $800.
Im going that way to go to the gym anyways so i might as well play this tourny.

top 3 pay. probably over $100 for third. You can get a extra 5000 chips if you spend $20 on drinks. not everyone does buy the drinks. some broke students. i can afford the drinks but don't really wanna be drinking booze or coke. would it be worth buying the drinks are just pouring them down the drain for a extra 5000 chips? or giving them to someone.

If the drink add-on was 18k chips instead of 5k, I’d suggest to get them anyway. But for less than 30% of a starting stack for the full price of a buy-in, it’s probably not worth it.

You might be able to “resell” the drinks though, everything >$14 would be a good deal for you.

You effectively get a discount on your drinks assuming nobody else buys the drinks. If everyone buys $20 worth of drinks and none of it goes to the prize pool everybody in the room just spent $20 on drinks and that's it. Obviously you're at a disadvantage if you don't buy them versus the people who do but that doesn't mean it's good value.

Obviously this donkament is meant for people to get drunk and play a fun game. Not for some fake regs to grind it for a profit.
