lol what a moronic claim. you CAN help that you criticize first you just choose not to.
Dunno he seems to lack the mental ability for that, so maybe he in fact can't help it.

Anyway we have indeed wasted too much space on this tard, let's just ignore him.

So... Yeah. Poker is such wondeful game in the sense that people's natural learning process gets totally raped. Usually it's: do the best you can->evaluate the result->adjust. In poker, the immediate result has nothing to do with how good your play was. It is just as non-intuitive as possible. It's like one day whatever you try to do with your right arm, you do with your left arm instead. Absolutely crazy. Few people have the mental ability to overcome this with take-a-step-back-and-look-at-the-big-picture technique (many can learn it though if they trust someone who has the gift). You have to watch at the long run results on paper (computer screen, whatever). Human mind is inherently absolutely dreadful at comprehending probability. It is so effortlessly natural to seriously underestimate the sample size required to make a judgement about winrate. 1K is laughable. 10K shouldn't be far off the right one, 30K is usually sustainable I guess. I would like to see at least 100K to be sure though, honestly. You probably need like ten million to get rid of variance altogether. Thankfully we have tha intranetz and multitabling...

I have to agree with Rider, I really like your avatar, phydaux. Much better than the razor balde you had before. I admit mine is a bit unsettling, but your reaction is very strong.

To Sawed-off, does it really matter where the advice comes from as long as it's good advice? What difference does it make if Rider is a pro or an amateur or a shmuck off the street. He's saying to be honest with your real results and that's good advice. I believe most people ignore it to their detriment. Most poker players treat poker like roulette or slots or any other casino game. They play to hit that jackpot. And when they talk about their trip to Vegas, they tell people about that big jackpot they hit and leave out all the losses they've accumulated.

Being a winning player is more than just winning occasionally--you need to win overall. If you're lying to yourself and everyone else about your results, you might as well be playing baccarate.

For me personally, I'll take all the advice I can get. I'm currently playing 25NL and working on moving up. Advice from someone that started out playing 1c/2c like me and worked their way up is excatly what I want to hear. Keep it coming.

Good read, good stuff and I like that it was blunt and to the point. Good to see your thoughts and these posts specifically in the beginners area as they have been good for multiple game types and something serious beginning players should read, kudos for helping promote this section of the forum.

On a side note always interesting to see someone bash a post/poster when they try to give back and make a helpful post In this case Doug has made some good points and with the ammount of hands hes put in his advice has more than just a little merit to it, though you shouldnt always take things at face value, before you bash someone probably should get a little background on em.

Look....obviously Sawed-Off is either a 1.) gimmick, 2.) ignorant, 3.) an Idiot.

Ignore it and move on.

My interest is completely if Doug completes his new prop bet......I've been going back and forth over and over if I should put a few K on it. I've made a decision......I think at 2.5 to 1 that means he needs to do it 29% of the time to breakeven. (well that was obvious....I didn't decide that or whatever)........I think he does it 29% of the time......I think the odds favor him too much. At 1.5 to 1 I'd bet against him.....at 2 to 1 I think it's kinda close......at 2.5 to 1 I think Doug has the best of it........Especially since everybody I've heard has said he can grind like crazy.

Hell I know his minimum bet is $1K.....If anybody wants to bet less than that against Doug at the going rate of 2.5 to 1 PM me and we'll see if we can work it out......The only necessity is that we will have an escrow and preferably it would be a mod but yea we'd figure it out.

If Doug or somebody with Doug has a problem with this and/or there is action going pn that I am unaware of please inform me immediately and I will cancel my involvment at all. I do not mean to take any and I many any of Doug's action....all I'm looking for is the under $1K bets that Doug said he wouldn't takes....but I'll still not accept them if Doug (or a very large better on the other side) doesn't want me to....Until then I'm open for it.....PM PM PM me.

Ok. I'm a loser I'll admit it. But, I'm a beginner, and that's pretty much par for the course.

Luckily, I can often play with other losers... err... beginners at the uNL tables. And the great thing about this game is that you don't have to be good to win. You just have to be better. Better than the other players at the table, that is. In fact, you don't even need to be better than all of them. Just most of them.

Today, I'm a loser. Tomorrow, I hope to be better. My goal is not to become a winner, but only to be better than yesterday. I strongly suspect that winning occurs at some point.

So, here's to tomorrow.

And now, I'll move on to the next WCGRider WysauNL thread.

Somebody pointed out to me that I am playing small ball poker in the micro's so that is probably my biggest flaw. I am going to try and fix that problem.

pfft, nonsense you are.
you are an idiot and i hope this is a level.
What OP has accomplished is irrelevant, the point of the post is to TRY and continue TRY until you succeed.
I would easily put it in the top 3 best threads i have ever read on this forum, and i have read a lot, as i am also constantly trying to improve my game.

Thankyou OP for a greatly empowering read.
