Why are coaches so necessary for moving up?

A thing about a good coach would to get results that are similar with a really good guitar teacher. Finding your mistakes and the best way to fix them. I had one of those epiphany things where I realized if you don't talk poker with folks too often, by the time you realize your leaks, you're the last one to know.
I'm sure there's lots more relating to poker like mental coaches and stuff, but to me a big advantage in a strictly ABC communication way is, 'Check your leaks dog." And then they proceed to illustrate said leaks and you go "ahhh I seeeee." and then stop the leakage.
