When/How can I change tables in live poker?

Let's say I'm playing at the local casino. My butt hurts, I've been staring at the same people for four hours, and action is better at other tables. How do I go about changing tables? Do I tell the manager? Do I need to wait for another seat to open up on a different table and just be aware to get first dibs? Do I just tell the floor manager to get me off the table and he'll just throw me wherever when the first seat opens? Is there a science to picking which table to go to? Will people think I am a dick for switching tables?
Let me know. I am a shy dude and definitely won't ask anyone at my casino for advice lol

Each room is going to have slightly different procedures for this sort of thing, next time you go in and ask to get seated, ask how it works at the same time

In general, the floor supervisor is the person who will manage table changes. Ask the dealer at your table and you will be pointed in the right direction for where to go. If you are too shy to ask in front of so many people, then you can go to the supervisor. Or, just watch other players and see if someone asks for a table change and do what they do.
What happens is that when a seat opens up, the next person on the table change list is given the option to move if the seat is at a new table. You should be able to decline.

Ask the floor. Just go up to them and ask for a table change when a seat opens up at another table. If a particular table looks good, ask to be put on the list for that table.
There's nothing wrong with requesting a table change. I do it routinely when my table is unprofitable.
Some might say it's your right to ask as a rake-paying customer.

Table and Seat changes are very routine in most larger rooms. Let the Floors know your intention (especially if it's to 'one' specific table) and they should take care of the rest for you.
In a small room you may get some 'parting shots' from the remaining Players but don't worry about it. Just like getting your AA cracked, after the first couple of times you get used to it!! Seat changes are much more common than table changes, but both are requests that Delaers/Floors are there to take care of for you. GL
